In this week's penultimate episode of VisionQuest, "Immolation," Vision (Paul Bettany) allowed himself to experience the intense grief he has been doing everything in his power to distance himself from since the events of WandaVision and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
If you haven't watched the episode yet, major spoilers follow.
After encountering J.I.M. (also played by Bettany), the original synthetic man created by Phineas Horton, Vision finally accepts that he and the "Hex Vision" are and always have been one and the same, and his refusal to acknowledge that they share more than just memories was simply his way of delaying the inevitable: coming to terms with the loss of his family.
The former Avenger breaks down, mourning the "deaths" of Wanda, Billy, and Tommy, while accepting the latter as his son.
Vision may be more determined than ever to keep Tommy safe, but the episode ends with the Synthezoid at the mercy of the mysterious Client, who reveals himself as Doctor Jo Carrington's ex and the basis for Ultron's human avatar. We won't find out exactly who he is and what he wants with Vision until next week's finale.

Searching for new meaning, he consults the AI personas embedded in his programming, including F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H., J.A.R.V.I.S., and the infamous Ultron. His discreet existence ends when a bounty placed on his head thrusts him on the run with Thomas Shepard, a mysterious boy who may be Vision’s son, reincarnate.
