Hannibal Buress Sheds (VERY Little) Light On His Mystery Role In SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING

The Neighbors actor/comedian doesn't say much because of those damned Marvel snipers, but Hannibal Buress has sort of talked for the first time about joining Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Things have gotten a little quiet on the production of Spider-Man: Homecoming as of late. This is probably due to the remainder of filming in Atlanta taking place indoors, albeit more exterior scenes will reportedly be shot in New York City in September. It has also been a while since we heard of anyone new joining the widely diverse cast, which might be due to there being no one else in Hollywood not already in the reboot. However, one of the most unexpected additions to the ensemble, Hannibal Buress, has talked vaguely about his role.

“All I can tell you is that I'm not Spider-Man,” the comedian said of his Homecoming role during a recent Broward Palm Beach interview. “My character does not know that he's Spider-Man, so I don't get to see any crazy fight scenes.” That sure narrows it down!

Hannibal Buress didn’t say more for obvious reasons, but he was a bit more vocal about who he’s playing in the movie when he was announced exactly one month ago: “Hot dog vendor but is secretly a villain prepping for a spinoff franchise,” he joked in a Twitter post.

With that said, almost all of the supporting roles in Spider-Man: Homecoming are unknown. And unless Marvel Studios is planning to make some surprise announcements about the Sony reboot during its San Diego Comic-Con panel tomorrow, it may be a while before we know who everyone else is playing and whether or not the characters are from the comics.

Directed by Jon Watts, Marvel and Sony’s Spider-Man: Homecoming stars Tom Holland in the title role, with Zendaya, Michael Barbieri, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Kenneth Choi, Martin Starr, Donald Glover, Logan Marshall-Green, Marisa Tomei, Robert Downey Jr., and Michael Keaton among several others. The film is set for release July 7, 2017.
