GAME OF THRONES Star Maisie Williams Says SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME Was Biggest Disappointment Of 2021

Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams has shared her brutally honest review of Spider-Man: No Way Home, explaining why she felt it was the most disappointing movie of last year in her eyes. Check it out!

Spider-Man: No Way Home was released to overwhelmingly positive reviews last December, with many comic book movie fans declaring it Marvel Studios' greatest blockbuster to date.

Seeing the three Spider-Men share the scene isn't something we'll soon forget, and if nothing else, it was a fan-pleasing couple of hours in the theater. Now, in the wake of an extended version of Spider-Man: No Way Home swinging back into multiplexes this summer (and on Digital earlier this week), there's at least one big name who didn't appreciate the movie.

Talking on the Frank Film Club podcast (via CBR), Game of Thrones and The New Mutants star Maisie Williams explained why it was a let-down in her eyes.

"My biggest film disappointment of the year was the new Spider-Man [makes thinking noise], not Far From Home, I can't remember what it's called - they all have really similar titles," she says. "But it just wasn't my fave. They had Benedict Cumberbatch come in and play Doctor Strange...and then they had the three Spider-Men all together, it was that one, and I feel like they were just so excited to get them all on screen together that it just missed a little bit of the soul."

"But I love this new reboot [of the Spider-Man franchise] and I will watch the next one, but [No Way Home] was just a little bit disappointing."

"I just think [the previous movies] started exploring so much, like I was so with these characters, like just above it being Spider-Man I was loving the journey of each film," Williams continued. "But this one, it just felt it was lacking that a little bit. Aunt May died [in No Way Home], and in that Andrew Garfield reboot I was sobbing [during similar moments], and like when Aunt May died it just, like, the pacing of it was all like, 'Oh, somehow I don't really care.'"

We're sure there will be some fans out there who agree with these sentiments, though the majority definitely appeared to appreciate what Marvel Studios was going for with the latest Spider-Man movie. There's still no word on Spider-Man 4, unfortunately, though the current expectation is that it will be released sometime in 2024.

Do you agree with the Game of Thrones alum's take on Spider-Man: No Way Home?
