SPIDER-MAN 2 Concept Art Reveals Scrapped Designs For Dylan Baker's Transformation Into Lizard

Some newly revealed Spider-Man 2 concept art by artist Constantine Sekeris reveals early designs for The Lizard when the villain was being considered for Sam Raimi's sequel. Check it out after the jump...

Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy saw Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker battle the Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, Venom, and Sandman (the less said about "Green Goblin II," the better). The Vulture and Black Cat were expected to appear in Spider-Man 4, but when the franchise was rebooted, The Amazing Spider-Man pits its take on the wall-crawler against The Lizard.

Rhys Ifans played that take on the villain - and reprised the role in Spider-Man: No Way Home - but Dylan Baker was the original big screen Curt Connors.

Concept artist Constantine Sekeris recently took to ArtStation to share some work he did on Spider-Man 2 and, as you can see, we very nearly saw The Lizard there. Designed as early explorations of what the character could look like on screen, we're not sure how 2004 visual effects would have pulled this off, but it would have been amazing to see on screen.

Many fans hoped The Lizard would receive something of an overhaul in Spider-Man: No Way Home, but he didn't really look any better on screen there than he had in 2012. It seems unlikely Marvel Studios will revisit the villain in the next trilogy, though there's always a chance he could appear elsewhere as Sony Pictures has a lot of spinoff movies in various stages of development.

It's hard to figure out why we can't just get a comic accurate Lizard on screen, but stick a labcoat on this version and we're sure it would have been embraced in Spider-Man 2

Check out these Lizard designs below and head to Sekeris's ArtStation page for more.

@Se4M4NSt4ine - Which is technically considered Raimi canon on the wiki. None of those games really contradict the films. And Tobey voices.
