Production has been halted on every major film and television production you can think of, and following the news that Uncharted's start date has been pushed back, it now sounds like Spider-Man 3 could also be hit by COVID-19 related delays. While the trades have yet to weigh in, this report comes our way via the British Film Institute.
Work on Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was halted in Australia, while The Falcon and The Winter Soldier and WandaVision are also likely to be delayed on Disney+ now. Black Widow, meanwhile, has no release date, so Spider-Man 3 being pushed back wouldn't be a huge shock.
Shooting was supposed to begin this summer, but with Dwayne Johnson recently admitting that he's not sure whether Black Adam will start filming in July as planned.
While Venom 2's release date hasn't changed yet, Morbius has been pushed back to 2021, and if Spider-Man 3 is unable to meet its planned summer start date, then there's a strong chance the wall-crawler will be unable to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as soon as next July. That's a shame, but given the current world climate, it's also not a massive surprise.
