The Video Game Version Of SPIDER-MAN Is Getting His Own Comic Book Series Next March

Spider-Man was a massive hit on the PlayStation 4 and Marvel Comics has today announced that they're moving forward with a comic book adaptation of the wall-crawler's latest video game adventure...

Spider-Man was a huge hit on the PlayStation 4 back in September (well, until Red Dead Redemption 2 came along and broke all of its records) and Marvel has today announced that starting in March, the characters from the game will be "presented in new and surprising scenarios as Peter Parker's civilian and superhuman worlds collide in the game's original, action-packed story!"

So, yes, this will just be an adaptation of the game rather than an entirely new story, but it's said that we will get all-new moments that weren't included in the PS4 adventure. There will also be bonus behind the scenes content in Marvel's Spider-Man: City of War #1, so it should be worth checking out.

"While creating the game, the writing team’s goal was to pay homage to Spider-Man’s rich history while also shaking things up to keep players on the edge of their seats," said Marvel Games creative director Bill Rosemann. "Now we’re thrilled to see our game’s original story swing full circle and come to life in the pages of this all-new comic book series in the Mighty Marvel Manner!"

Are you excited to see more of Spider-Man while we wait for the sequel to be released somewhere down the line? As always, share your thoughts on that in the comments section down below.

I don't like the artist choice. Excellent work, but it's too dark and moody for this incarnation of Spider-Man.

Didn't they already start this but as a continuation of the story leading into Spider-Verse? Like a month ago?

Playing the story through again. This game has officially survived the Red Dead Redemption release wave in my house. If any game could make me throw aside this one it'd be RD2, but I keep coming back, Spider-Man PS4 is pretty damn near perfect.

@SpideyPuffsMJ - I finally beat the story mode the other day and damn it was such a good story. One of if not the best game I’ve ever played.

The Arkham Trilogy, Injustice, and Spider-Man. The best superhero videogames that also have comic book spin-offs.

The white in his costume might as well be a bullseye

Hopefully it sheds some light on the first encounters with most of the villains in the game.

So this is like those prequel mcu comics where they just recap the story? Pass, don’t think it’ll work all too well. These things are usually far weaker than the source material.

This game gave us the best Spider-Man in years. The game really nailed Peter's character and world. The supporting cast, the villains, the action, the heartful moments and drama -- everything was perfectly done. Haven't loved anything done with the character so much since The Spectacular Spider-Man show.
The writer does concern me, tbh. Haven't read anything really impressive by Hopeless at all. But Clayton Crain's art for the covers and the interior done by Michele Bandini are good choices imo.

Anyone else that’s seen Into the Spider-Verse spot the Spider-Man wearing the game suit during the end credits?

Man, I hate that costume. I hope he never wears that in the mainstream.
