I hope so!!!

I've already read that 2010 will be the year we find out everything about BND but the fact that Madame Web is in the image makes me think that this may be Gauntlet related!! :)

SoratheKey - 12/29/2009, 11:43 AM
@joshw24: Araña is there too.... On ASM #611 she was captured by who I think is Kraven's daughter...

I do think it's Gauntlet related!

I'll take a guess...

They're going to rehash another old idea and have it so every different costume he's worn is rewritten to debut as a new character. Then they'll use that to say that any of the stories in those costumes were someone else because One More Day "fixed" continuity for Spidey by breaking it.

im just glad this is up here. i want to talk alot more comics with you guys not just the films!:)
I have no idea what any of this means but im totally split. i dont care for Arana or Madame Web. but the iron spider and the symbiote are classics! love 'em!

@ Demon

lol they already are. My guess is they are going to have a huge Spider Family Brawl. But with what DC has been doing I don't think marvel can compete with making Spider-man their main focus. Brand new Day pretty much killed him, and he's lacking A LOT anymore. For all intensive purposes if you want a witty banter tossing Super Hero read deadpool atm it's a much stronger book.

Spidey is dead, the One More Day/Brand New Day just completely ruined it for me. Rather focus on other interpretation of him like the films or the Ultimate verse.

rofl @ Demonhunter; Your grasp of the situation is truly meritorious.

For real tho gents I couldn't care less. The death of Cap and BND killed all interest in current events I might have had before that.. As a matter of fact I didn't even like WW Hulk.

These days I ignore new comics entirely. When I go to the comic book store I buy stacks of back issues which to me is infinitely more fun than watching Marvel ass clowns come up with crisis after crisis because they believe that that is what they need to sell comics now.

Um....the Only Way it would be the year of Spiderman to me is If Spectacular Spiderman Would come back on Air! Since the 90's Series It just feels like every spiderman cartoon after that Has a Curse of only a hand full of episodes that Never have a conclusion!

DarthMul@ I LOVED WWH!! haha o well agree to disagree (im in the middle of planet hulk right now)

For those saying Spidey is dead. i was with you a few months ago. durring BND. i didn't care for ANY of the new characters, the 'DB', harry's new friends and so-on. but im a sucker for the sinister six so when 'the guantlet' came up i got on board and have liked everything i've read so far. but with arana and madame web up there...who knows how convoluted this thing can get.

@superAlex: Well then if you want comic books then come back to my fansite more often.... Lately since my entries have been dumped to the REVIEWS section I get less visits.... I was even e-mailed telling me that if i don't put them on REVIEWS then they would get deleted.

@thenumber12: I was barely going to post that!!!!

Oh wel Ill post it anyways!
StephenStrange

@ SuperAlex: I don't like it because they make all these incredibly powerful chracters seem soooo weak and they aren't. Chracters that should have at least kicked his ass SOME like Juggernaut did nothing at all. He missed and kept right on going. Juggernaut DOES have the power to STOP RUNNING you know. it was horrible writing, and they did it because WWH writers knew that Juggernaut could have ended the thing.

Several of the fights I just don't buy. Like him defeating Black Bolt. WTF.. they COPPED OUT by not showing it happening because the simple fact is if Black Bolt really lets it rip he has enough destructive force to take Hulk. He may even be able to vaporize him if he had screamed at him. But if they had presented BB's true power in all it's glory then they might not have had anything to write about. That was the first thing.
Then there was Juggernaut.

And then last but not least there was that bullshit with Dr. Strange. The whole idea that Hulk could have defeated the power of Zom is just ridiculous. In terms of raw power Hulk doesn't even begin to compare with a demonic entity like Zom. That's like comparing Sub Mariner to Odin. Yes the Sub Mariner is quite formidable but he's just plain outclassed in a fight. Channeling Zom was an idiotic move of Strange's part. But the main issue is that HULK should NOT have survived. NOTHING should have survived lol

So basically, Zom like Juggernaut and Black Bolt were made to seem WEAK so that the clowns that wrote it could continue to tell the story they wanted to tell. That's horrible writing.
WWH was a great big wind up for a very poor little pitch.

Okay, oaky i see where you're coming from Darth.

And i'd have to agree with most of your points but here's where i think those things went wrong. it wasn't durring WWH. it was after. when Loeb picked up the riegns and undid eveything Planet Hulk set up. The point was that while Hulk was on Sakaar he became much much stronger than he already was. and him coming back and kicking everones ass was only possible because of what he went through on Sakaar. Then Loeb comes long and totally craps on the Hulk's entire journey, he dumbs him down, weakens him (which might have been neccesary to 'fix' the points you brought up) and basically pretends the last 20 years of Hulk never happened. so NOW when you look back, it seems weird.

So i'll give it up and say you're probably right strictly because you seem to care more about juggs and zom than i do. and maybe that's my loss.

But i just absolutly loved the concept as a whole. i wish Hulk was more relevant in the avengers events like secret invasion and siege and what not.

im also with you on picking up new monthlies. i've cut down drastically and have just started picking up trades and hardcovers. Kraven's Last Hunt... woooooo! i don't know how that ending never got spoiled for me, i loved that one!

I feel sorry for you guys. Dropping Spidey? I would never even dream of it! So what you didnt like "Brand New Day", get over it! Sooner or later it will all be explained and I bet all of you jump right back into the book, because you only follow the character when the story goes how you want it to. As for us REAL Spider-Man fans, who stick by our boy Pete no matter what, we will all be sitting back enjoying the "Gauntlet", Spideys eventual takedown of Norman Osborne in "SIEGE", and the explanation of what really went down in "Brand New Day". I, for one, am as excited as ever to follow my favorite character into a new chapter in 2010- the year of SPIDER_MAN!!!

...besides the book has been WAY better than those awful "Maguire/Dunst/Raimi" whiney, emo, dance number, filled garbage you call movies!

I quit buying Spidey years ago. He just doesn't seem to evolve beyond this "Woe is me I have to shoulder the burden of superpowers while trying to have a normal life. Wahhhhh!" So I've really not much a clue that goes on with him anymore. Sounds like they found a story for him worse than that whole 'Clone' ordeal.
Makiveli21
Makiveli21 - 12/29/2009, 2:58 PM
the clone "ordeal" was hard to follow AT THE TIME, but when it was revealed that Pete was the original and Ben was the clone and Norman returned as the true Green Goblin, who had been pulling the strings the whole time, just to return and kill Ben..... COME ON THAT WAS FREAKING AWESOME!!!! you had to read the entire clone saga all the way through "Revelations", which Im guessing, you did not.

Darth@ your a better man than i:)

Makiveli21@ hahah yeah! HULK SMASH! (i want some more spoken dialouge from Hulk in the next film)

TheMyth@ (if in fact you are real) I totally agree. thats why i liked where he went durring civil war. those who've said he's never been more interesting, i agree with that as well. he was on the avengers, living in the tower but he had also unmasked and was dealing with those aspects. it was great. after Seige they need to find a way of restoring the progessions he made durring civil war. because in essence what they did was have him go on a journey that made him the most interesting he'd ever been, then LITERALLY erased all of it and brought it back to what you're talking about- 'woe is me'

Having looked at the image that Fabs posted, I'd say this was basically a promo for both the Gauntlet and the revelations behind how BND came about - all good news then really, lol!

MYTH: You're missing out! JMS' run on the title was excellent (right up until JRJr left anyway) and although One More Day was handled badly, Brand New Day has so far been excellent for the most part!

Friendly Reminder: Hulk didn't defeat Black Bolt in WWH. Hulk defeated a Skrull posing as Black Bolt.

@SuperAlex: Dude we are on the same page. Loved Pete in Civil War and loved Hulk everything until after WWH, but now I'm optomistic that maybe in the end, Loeb will wrap it all up real nicely and all the crazy stuff like "WHY DO WE EVEN HAVE A RED HULK?" will all make sense.

@Makiveli: Totally agree. Truth is, I've always been a sucker for Spidy. I'm sure I could fine 10,000 things about BND to complain about, but somehow I've made up my mind to enjoy the ride. Problem is, with like 3 issues coming out every month, I'm having trouble keeping up. I'm assuming it'll all work out in the end--kinda like Jeph Loeb's run on Hulk and Ultimatum.

@Mulder: My condolences. It looks like you and Marvel have grown apart. I'm sure I'll feel the same way about Marvel events in like 10 years when everything completely changes again (I just recently jumped back on the wagon).

@Josh: Just look at your avatar--YOU ARE AWESOME!

@Sora: Thank you (as usual). Way to keep comics on this sight!

Makiveli21 - 12/29/2009, 5:10 PM
anil- "American Son" was awesome and Im sure it was just the tip of the iceberg of the the drama that will unfold between Peter, Harry, and Norman! At first I didnt like how Norman "had relations" with Gwen before she died, but then to find out he did it with Harry's girl too was just CRAZY! It makes me despise him that much more! Throw on top of that the fact that he's in such a position of power as Iron Patriot with the Avengers and I can wait to see how it all goes down! Hopefully we see him return to the green and purple for one final showdown with Spider-Man!

jusme6- Black Bolt was a freakin skrull?!?! totally just blew my mind! But even if he wasn't, you gotta remember Hulk was SO MAD about being exiled to another planet, and then losing his lover.... and the angrier Hulk gets the stronger he gets! I bet he could of put dems to Galactus himself at that point! lol maybe not...
its funny that you bring up "Ultimamtum" because although I did get every issue, I still couldnt believe they did Wolverine so dirty. But has anybody seen the cover of the new "Ultimate Comics X #1" with the blonde kid in the hoodie with the claws...
OdinsBeard
OdinsBeard - 12/29/2009, 5:16 PM
jusme6@ OOOOOHHH yeah! that wasn't the real black bolt! shows that tony shoulda called upon the hulk durring that ole secret invasion thingy!

a more important question than the one you posed tho is: WHY DO WE EVEN HAVE A RED SHE-HULK?! im afraid that it just wont matter in the end. im seeing a pattern in Loeb's writing tho stemming from his batman days and on into Hulk. he doesn't know what to do unless he can [frick] with EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER under the banner of a book. for no other reason than to say 'HEY! heres this guy! ooooo coooool!!" it worked in hush... not so much for hulk... these spider-man teaser images have so many characters on them already i fear this is leading to the announcment of Loeb joining the spidey brain trust! it sort of has a mcguiness look to it :/ .. haha jk.

I've learned tho that i just can't be optimistic when it comes to stuff like this... Secret Invasion taught me this. However, it will be cool to see where Seige goes because it seems like alot of the stuff that's going to be happening in Seige is what i wanted out of SI. the whole time im waiting for Thor and Hulk and Iron Man and the new Cap to get together a bust some serious skulls but nothing happends for 7 issues then wasp turns into some purple thing? then norman shoots the queen?? oooooook. it's like professional wrestling in a sense... they can never really have a true climactic moment because eveything they do has to be a lead in to somthing else...

i seriosuly hope for seige they give us the ending that's been 'seven years in the making' (yeah right, just like george lucas had all those star wars prequels pre-planned) and we can start off 2011 at a new point in the marvel u. not just a continuation of all of this same stuff...

Makiveli: Didn't Ben Franklin say, "Nothing is certain but death, taxes, and Logan." When Wolverine died, and like really really died I couldn't comprehend it. Honestly, I still can't comprehend how the Ultimate Universe still exists with 1/2 of the characters dead now. It all makes me REALLY anticipate "Ultimate Enemy" and "Ultimate X" especially the later.

SuperAlex: Dito. I am was not a fan of Secret Invasion, though I do like Dark Reign. There was so much build up and then Norman Ozborn comes out of left field to rule the MU. What? Also, it's not looking like Hulk will be joining the Avengers any time soon. There seems to be a problem getting Hulk and Thor in the same room together. Wait! What if... Thor and Hulk are the same! Think about it, they're never in the same place at the same time.

jusme6@

not sure if that last part was sarcasm so i'll just say Loeb used Thor in his Hulk run. it was quite controversial, as well, because the red hulk found some sort of technicality that allowed him to pick up thor's hammer as long as thor himself was still touching it... i think the red hulk is the manifestation of all the herpes tony stark has contracted over the years... it's the only way...

and i guess, you're right, the norman thing wasn't bad. it had been built up. i just think SI lost so much momentum by the end that i didn't care.

Makiveli21@ how's that arch going? i've been wanting to pick up some of the skaar stuff but it's low on my priority list.
jusme6
jusme6 - 12/29/2009, 6:02 PM
Na dude I'm talking green hulk, but yeah it wasn't serious. That Thor fight was a joke. Only now after Fall of the Hulk's Gamma am I starting to believe there may be something not so cartooish under the surface of Red Hulk... MAYBE.
And TIH seems to be more Banner centric than Skaar centric. I think it's fun definitely lots of action. Also, Savage She-Hulk is starting to grow on me. She seems like a bold noble warrior who going through some Marvel Boy "why am I here?" issues.
