Beenox's Dee Brown May Have Just Spoiled The End Of THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN

In a lengthy interview about the upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man video game, the head of Beenox lets slip a piece of info which may just reveal the final fate of the Lizard in the upcoming movie.

The interview (courtesy of GameTrailers.com) itself is well worth watching as there's plenty of interesting new details about the upcoming video game. However, it's what Brown says at the 0:40 point which really piqued my interest. Before you go any further, beware of MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD.

"Obviously something really big happened in Manhattan in the movie and after that is where the game is starting actually. You get to see what happens next and you get to interact with the Lizard and Connors in a completely different way."

As the video game is set in the same universe as the film, this seems like confirmation that Curt Connors/The Lizard survives his final battle with Spider-Man in the Marc Webb helmed reboot. While tie-in's such as this one play absolutely no part in influencing what happens in the movies, the fact it takes place following the events of The Amazing Spider-Man makes it highly unlikely they would resurrect a character who is killed off on the big screen! In the comic books, Peter helps cure Connors and the two end up working together on several different occasions. Whether he'll be incarcerated at the conclusion of the film or will stick around as some sort of mentor (a third option is that the Lizard returns of course!) is unknown as is whether actor Rhys Ifans is signed up to return. Sound off with your thoughts on this potential spoiler in the usual spot.

STARRING:

Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man
Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy
Rhys Ifans as Curt Connors/The Lizard
Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben
Sally Fields as Aunt May
Denis Leary as George Stacy

RELEASE DATE: July 3rd, 2012.

Yes!! Thank god that The Lizard doesn't die. It makes sense plus I've always wanted Dr. Connors to not die. I am now STOKED for this movie.

Wait... Unless... The movie stops right at that point and you have to play the game just to actually finish the movie completely. Like it stops exactly at an unfinished moment in the movie and says "buy the game to complete the movie"

I think that is why I have been so pleased with the Marvel Studio films. They are not rushing to kill off important characters. That was a big problem I had with the X-Men Trilogy and the Remi Spider-man trilogy. Also thought it was stupid to kill off Joker & Two Face in TDK. Once you establish Two Face you carry him over to the next film, not kill him right away.

@cpbuff22 joker was captured at the end of TDK not killed. Nolan already said he had to rethink what he wanted to do with the 3rd film because joker was supposed to be a major factor and he was not going to recast the part out of respect for Heath

@CPBuff22 Joker didn't die in TDK. I agree on the Two Face point though. He would have made a great villain in TDKR.

Good article. As far as Raimi's films, the ONLY villain that died like in the comics the way he was supposed to die was the Green Goblin. Doc Ock, there was no reason for him to die and honestly it kinda pissed me off. Then Harry died, Venom, everyone but the damn Sandman, who wasn't even an actual villain. Glad this new series is really making an effort to stay true to the comics. The Lizard/Connors will live. So pleased. Now I'm even more excited than I already was, and I'm already pumped.

Yeah there seems to be a common error these days that assume the Joker died in TDK, I think it does stem from the fact Heath sadly passed away. That being said, I am not really for and against it, if it works for the character development and story then fine, if not then have them survive. The issue with Raimi Spider-Man was he took of his mask with every villain fight so they either died or exposed who he was. Two Face is a good villain, but had no issues with him not surviving because of the context his story was a part of. I think someone mention Marvel movies haven't killed off villains, well IM has killed both of his, but this brings me back to killing working in the context of the story.

Why do people want Two Face to be the enemy of TDKR?

Two Faces origins are the only cool thing about his character. As an actual villain, his threat level to Batman sucks. He sucks

Name one thing memorable of Two Face sans his origin? You can't. Bane was undoubtedly the best choice. He actually has potential to outdo Joker

"kill a villain per film"
its as if the makers realise they have a limited time frame and death of yer enemy means victory...
we cant tolerate that kind of movie anymore!
well,I cant.

peoples reactions to two face dying at the end of TDK still makes me laugh, his character arch in that film is one of the greatest parts, if anything he drives that film as much as batman and the joker do. he would have been an awful villain for TDKR and wouldnt have worked consider nolan's "realistic" way of him being hurt. from when he burnt to when he dies is a little under a day. I cant see him going on further than that if he hadnt of died.

the whole last portion of the film with him batman and gordon is as tense as hell and leads to one of the better endings ive seen in modern mainstream cinema.

id much rather have batman take on the responsibility for the murders into the next film that have two face be the through line and not have the cops chasing batman.

the movie was one of the few recent examples of when a "villain of the week" idea really works.
