"There's always been a thing with punk rock bands and comics," Bono told MTV News. "It's always been there. Even The Ramones, who are also from Queens like Peter Parker and Mary Jane, they covered the theme to Spider-Man."

"It goes all through not just rock and roll culture, [but] all through modern art," he continued. "You see it in Roy Lichtenstein's work, the pop artists' work, they all sample from comics."

"[The show] is like a graphic novel, but a three-dimensional one," he said. "I'm calling it a pop-up, pop-art opera... because I'm pretentious. Julie's calling it what?"

"I think she's calling it a rock-and-roll circus drama," said The Edge.

"We don't really know what to call it, because there are so many aspects to it," he explained. "A great night out. I think that's what it is."

"It is elements of rock and roll, it's elements of circus, it's elements of opera and musical theater," said The Edge. "It is so many different things, and when we started the process, we promised we'd do something that hasn't been done before. And I think we've managed to do that."

Personally I can't stand Bono, I think he is a self righteous douche! But that’s just me :) oh and this musical is all that is wrong with the world. Why oh why would you ever do something this horrible to a character so beloved!

@Ryden back in the day... they were borderline punk... talking about politics and being angry about stuff... and that stopped after "WAR"...and now, they are just old sell-outs that make crap.

they havent been a "punk band" in almost 20 years...

@Hela- They were never a punk band. There's a lot more to being punk than commenting on the politics of the time. They were never an angry, anti-establishment band...they were just whiny and annoying. With literally 2 good songs to thier name and that's it. I wouldn't even call them rock, they've totally sold out...and they're such a boring, boring band.
