...This world is a madhouse of mutants, terrorists, psychotics, aliens, and monsters. All of them clashing and crashing into each other at every second of every day. ... I know the mutants of this world will rise up and kill us. I know that the Hulk will one day decide to destroy everything he sees. I know the Punisher will one day kill the wrong person and set off a chain of events that will lead to nuclear holocaust. I know these heroes will dive head first into something they do not understand and end up doing such insane damage to the world that humans can no longer live on it. ... I know this is true. I know it. And I could have stopped it. If not for the fact that you kept standing in my @#$@# way..."
--NORMAN OSBORN

Who is GREEN GOBLIN?
The GREEN GOBLIN is NORMAN OSBORN a Marvel Comics supervillain. The character was created by writer Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko, and first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #14 (July 1964).
First Appearance

Osborn adopts the bizarre identity of the GREEN GOBLIN, based on the monster he feared in his childhood, with the goal of becoming boss of the city's organized crime. He intends to cement his position by defeating the city's superhero Spider-Man.

GREEN GOBLIN was one of the first villains to know the secret identity of Spider-man. He use this knowledge to make life more difficult for Spider-man. One of this instance is by kidnapping Spider-man's girlfriend, Gwen Stacy, whom the Goblin planned to kill by throwing her off the Brooklyn Bridge. Unfortunately for Gwen she died on Spider-Man's rescue attempt and not on the drop. It was the sudden whiplash effect of Spidey's webbing that broke her neck which killed her immediately.

After Gwen's death, Filled with rage, Spider-Man savagely attacked the Goblin, nearly killing him. He returned to his senses at the last minute, however and the Goblin took the opportunity to attempt one final play by remote controlling his goblin glider to impale the wall crawler. Spider-Man was able to dodge the glider which instead impaled the Goblin, seemingly killing him. The nightmare was over, or at least that's what Peter thought. Osborn would seemingly died and disappeared for the rest of the Silver Age from the Spider-Man comics.

Apparently NORMAN OSBORN did not die because it was revealed that the GREEN GOBLIN formula had endowed him with a healing factor that allowed him to circumvent this otherwise certain death. The returned Osborn devises a contrived story to explain his absence, and regains control of his business.

Sometime later, NORMAN OSBORN was finally revealed to the public as the GREEN GOBLIN and after a climatic battle with Spider-Man and Luke Cage that raged across Manhattan, he was finally imprisoned.

Osborn escaped but was later apprehended by S.H.I.E.L.D. agents. Osborn then attempted to distance himself from his GREEN GOBLIN persona after being prescribed medication. And during the "Civil War" over the Superhuman Registration Act, Osborn finds himself appointed director of the "superhero" team the Thunderbolts, now tasked to apprehend anyone who resists registering.

During the "Secret Invasion" by the shape-shifting alien race the Skrulls, Osborn kills the Skrull queen Veranke, leader of the invasion, by shooting her. He leverages this widely publicized success in defeating the Skrulls to replace Tony Stark as director of S.H.I.E.L.D., which he in turn replaces with H.A.M.M.E.R., a paramilitary force he uses to advance his agenda.

Osborn simultaneously formed an alliance called the Cabal with Doctor Doom, Emma Frost, Namor, Loki, and the Hood.

NORMAN OSBORN is seen by the major populace of the Marvel Universe, as earth's greatest hero and the most powerful man in America. He continued this masquerade by coming up with his own superteam of AVENGERS, and a new persona for himself the IRON PATRIOT.

Then Osborn's madness kicked in high gear once again as he lead the siege of Asgard, and aimed to take down the gods.

After the events of Siege NORMAN OSBORN is once again in prison, where we see a familiar persona reemerging.

POWERS & ABILITIES
Note: Due to the nature of comicbooks being an on-going tale, the character's powers along with his appearance, is in a constant state of flux.

Genius Intelligence: Even before consuming the Goblin Formula, Norman was extremely smart and intelligent, who was especially skilled with mathematics and science, possessing a wide spectrum knowledge of chemistry, the side-effects of drugs and other doses on humans and animals. The Goblin Formula enhanced Osborn's mental capacities and creative talents.

Superhuman Strength: Norman, after drinking the Goblin formula, become superhumanly strong hence he possessed an extreme strength capacity potential.

Superhuman Speed: Norman can, thanks to the Goblin formula, run and or exercise as well as operate at superhuman speeds hence his overall body equilibrium is also heightened although he isn't nearly as fast as speedsters.

Superhuman Stamina: Norman can operate or maintain continuous physical motion in activities or simply in his movements for prolonged periods of time without getting tired or weary in the process.

Superhuman Durability: The formula also fortified all of Osborn's bodily tissues, making them far tougher and more resistant to injury than normal humans. While Osborn can be injured by something along the lines of a knife or small conventional bullets composed of conventional material, he is very resistant to great impact forces and blunt trauma. He can withstand powerful impacts, such as falling from several stories or being repeatedly struck by a superhuman enemy, that would severely injure or kill a normal human with little to no injury to himself.

Regenerative Healing Factor: If Osborn does sustain injury, his body's increased metabolism allows him to heal damaged tissue much faster and more extensively than a normal human is capable of.

Superhuman Agility: The Goblin's agility, balance, and bodily coordination are enhanced to levels beyond the natural physical limits of the finest human athlete.

Superhuman Reflexes: His reflexes are similarly enhanced and are superior to those of the finest human athlete.

AbilitiesGenius Level Intellect: Aside from his physical advantages, the serum also greatly enhanced Norman's already highly above average intellect, making him a true genius capable of making progress in advanced areas of genetics, robotics, engineering, and applied chemistry that most professional scientists can scarcely comprehend.

Expert Marksman: As the GREEN GOBLIN, Norman uses various hand-held throwing weapons such as explosives and razor projectiles which he will throw with great aim rarely ever missing his target. He is also a skilled sharpshooter with various firearms.

Skilled Combatant: He is a skilled unarmed combatant that is capable of using most weapons proficiently.

CBM FIGHT CLUB CHALLENGE

Message to the CBM community:To those who are making requests, check first [here] because I might have done an article on the character already. If I have not please be patient, I will get on it as soon as possible (but consider the fact that I spend hours writing one of these articles). Try to limit your request to characters that already have been adapted to live media, so that the feature will at least be relevant to the site – Comic Book Movie(though I include TV characters). Characters in Manga or Anime’, I am not particularly familiar of, I am not discounting these characters but it will probably take some time before I write a feature on them because I have to read up on these characters. Thank you for reading these articles! If there are errors on the feature article above, blame it on my age, humanity and ignorance. Just be sure to check the comment section for the corrections, any error I made will surely be pointed out and corrected by much bigger geeks (because there will always be a bigger geek out there). -This has been PollMaster inviting you to the geekside.
