Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is right around the corner, but is there a risk that some fans will be disappointed with the long-awaited sequel to 2018's Oscar-winning Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse?

Only if they've paid too much attention to online rumours, it seems.

Talking to TechRadar (via Toonado.com), director Kemp Powers confirmed that none of the wild fan theories he's seen doing the rounds around online about the movie are even close to being correct.

"I've not [been] on social media much," Powers began, "but the theories I've seen, I have to say 90 percent of rumors are way off base, to the point where it's almost annoying how wrong they are! We live in a time where a bad rumor kind of spreads and people start accepting it as the truth."

"Or, say Phil [Miller] and Chris [Lord, Across the Spider-Verse's executive producers] might have said something in an interview four or five years ago, fans then go 'They said that might happen! Now we know it's going to happen,'" the filmmaker continued. "The vast majority of rumors are false."

In other news, a new poster for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has been released that offers a spectacular new look at the sequel's web-slinging superheroes.

Miles Morales returns for the next chapter of the Oscar-winning Spider-Verse saga, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn's full-time, friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence.

But when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most.

The movie stars Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Jake Johnson, Issa Rae, Daniel Kaluuya, Karan Soni, Jason Schwartzman, Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Velez, Greta Lee, Rachel Dratch, Jorma Taccone, Shea Whigham, and Oscar Isaac.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is set to be released in theaters on June 2, 2023.

Fingers crossed for an Earth X appearance (May Parker/Venom or Spiders-Man would be dope).

Although it is getting increasingly hard to stay away from spoilers or rumors no matter how hard you try, I still don't and won't put much stock in them until the time I have actually seen the final product for myself.

The majority of "scoops" are legit bs, yet everyone runs with them. It's easier than actually trying to start a discussion on a topic, aye carumba
