SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE Hot Toys Figures Prove To Be Surprisingly Divisive Among Collectors

Hot Toys figures typically receive unanimous praise, but a first look at the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse line has proved to be incredibly divisive thanks to Spider-Man 2099's portrayal. Check it out!

Yesterday, we brought you a first look at Hot Toys' new Star-Lord figure based on his appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

The response to that from collectors has been a positive one (outside the lack of accessories), though the same can't be said for this sneak peek at upcoming figures based on Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Miles Morales and Spider-Gwen have essentially been recycled from 2018's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse line, though it's Spider-Man 2099 that's become the biggest talking point.

For some reason, his articulation points are on full display, including a midsection that's clearly split in two akin to a 12-inch Marvel Legends action figure.

This is an unprecedented move for Hot Toys, and one that means Spider-Man 2099 lacks the sort of screen accuracy collectors are so keen on. That was always going to be tough with such a stylised character, of course, so we're curious to see the finished product.

Take a first look at these new Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Hot Toys figures below.

Miles Morales returns for the next chapter of the Oscar-winning Spider-Verse saga, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn's full-time, friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence.

But when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most.

The movie stars Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Jake Johnson, Issa Rae, Daniel Kaluuya, Karan Soni, Jason Schwartzman, Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Velez, Greta Lee, Rachel Dratch, Jorma Taccone, Shea Whigham, and Oscar Isaac.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is set to be released in theaters on June 2, 2023.

I mean, I think that's pretty nitpicky due to the nature of the animation. Technically we should be complaining about miles and Gwen since their figures have clear folds in the suits as they move, when due to the animation style that doesn't happen in the movie.

I can understand saying it looks cheaper but it's debatable if it's more accurate.

Just stop wasting your money on .25 cent plastic painted forms to sit on your shelf and stare at. Easy.

Thank god it was about toys. When I saw the word ‘divisive’ I thought they were referring to the movie.
