SPIDER-MAN: BEYOND THE SPIDER-VERSE Will Feature Multiple Versions Of Gwen Stacy/Spider-Gwen

Spider-Verse franchise producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller have confirmed that the final instalment of the trilogy will likely feature multiple versions of Gwen Stacy, but what exactly is that leading to?

In Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, we learn that there are specific "canon" events which must happen in the life of every Spider-Man.

A police captain's death is among them, whether it's George Stacy or Miles Morales' father, Jeff Davis, and all signs point to Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse being about proving this grim event can be avoided. Another canon event mentioned is Gwen Stacy's death, so what does that mean for Spider-Gwen?

During an interview on the Crew Call with Anthony D'Alessandro podcast (via Toonado.com), franchise producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller were asked if we can expect to see more versions of Gwen in the upcoming threequel.

"Currently, yes," Lord teased before Miller added, "I would say that, yes. It's on the page. I think that that...these things evolve as they go."

"But there's one I'm very excited about," Lord said before Miller interrupted by pointing out, "Yes, I know exactly the one you're talking about. You know the one I'm thinking of, which is based on. I'm not gonna say anything. I'm not gonna say anything."

Miller concluded by adding, "But it is sort of plot-integral, I would say."

It's going to be very interesting to see more versions of Gwen, particularly as she is typically a victim in Peter Parker's world, meeting her maker at the hands of the Green Goblin. It's hard to say how there will be room to explore this in the final chapter of the trilogy, but perhaps it's a plot point which will be elaborated on in the character's long-rumoured spin-off.

"A contender for the best Spider-Man film yet and easily the greatest animated movie ever made," we recently said in our review of the sequel, "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is a jaw-dropping spectacle, a feast for the senses, and an instant Marvel classic."

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse arrives in theaters on March 29, 2024.

@Thing94 - Don't worry, there's no way current Hollywood would pander to a tiny bunch of mouthpieces on twitter...
