Despite more release date shifts, 2021 is starting to pick up, and it's definitely been another busy week for news here on CBM. Time will tell whether we're facing another wave of delays, but regardless of what the future holds, Hollywood is (currently) showing no signs of slowing down.

This week, we got our first look at Thor: Love and Thunder courtesy of some set photos, a new mid-season trailer for WandaVision, a big addition to The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and more. However, it was Tom Holland that got us all talking with a huge tease for Spider-Man 3.

That barely scratches the surface of the past seven days, though, and there's a lot here to delve into.

To take a look through these stories, all you guys need to do is hit the "Next" button down below.

10. The Matrix 4 Seemingly Gets A Title

JKR31e1345542134

The next Matrix movie is set to arrive on HBO Max later this year, and while we've not seen more than a few unrevealing set photos, it appears the title may have now leaked online.

Earlier this week, The Matrix 4's makeup artist, Shunika Terry, posted an image of the wrap gift she received on Instagram, and the lanyard in the photo clearly says, "Matrix Resurrections." Given how much time has passed since the last movie, we can read into "Resurrections" in a lot of ways.

It's a cool title, and you can take a look at that wrap gift by clicking here.

9. There's A Big Surprise Cameo Coming In WandaVision

JKR31e13455421342

Okay, we know what you're thinking. You saw this in yesterday's episode of WandaVision, right? Well, we're not so sure, especially after Elizabeth Olsen promised a surprise on the same level as Luke Skywalker in The Mandalorian in an upcoming episode of the critically acclaimed Disney+ TV series.

While it's entirely possible this is you-know-who, Paul Bettany's comments about getting to work with someone he's always wanted to makes us think there's another big A-Lister on the way.

Find out more from Olsen and showrunner Jac Schaeffer about upcoming surprises here, and a first look at that surprise character right here. Roll on episode this coming Friday, eh?

8. Zack Snyder Shares A Teasing Look At The Joker

JKR31e13455421344

This week, Justice League director Zack Snyder dropped a first look at Jared Leto's Joker in his cut of the DC movie, and while it doesn't reveal much, the villain certainly seems to have received a makeover.

He appears to be wearing his signature purple gloves, and while it's hard to say for sure, we can't make out a "Damaged" tattoo on his forehead! It looks a little like this take on the Clown Prince of Crime might have his classic comic book smile, but also longer hair and a receding hairline.

The Joker wasn't the only tease from Zack Snyder's Justice League we got this week, as the filmmaker also shared a fresh shot of a fully armoured Cyborg (which we definitely didn't see in 2017).

Take a look at the full, hi-res Joker still by heading over to the original post.

7. A Fresh Look At The MCU's New Captain America

JKR31e134554213444

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is fast approaching, and we got to see some new promo art from the Disney+ series earlier this week, offering some detailed looks at the show's four leads.

These come our way courtesy of some Topps Digital trading cards, and while there's not much to say about Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes' (Sebastian Stan) costumes, these images provide our best look yet at Baron Zemo (Daniel Bruhl) and Captain America (Wyatt Russell).

Take a look at this latest promo art from The Falcon and The Winter Soldier here.

6. The Suicide Squad Gets A New Synopsis

JKR31e13455421344444

Warner Bros. surprised us with a new synopsis for The Suicide Squad this week, promising a team consisting of "Bloodsport, Peacemaker, Captain Boomerang, Ratcatcher 2, Savant, King Shark, Blackguard, Javelin, and everyone's favorite pyscho, Harley Quinn."

We'll follow Task Force X after they're dropped on to "the remote, enemy-infused island of Corto Maltese...on a search-and- destroy mission with only Colonel Rick Flag on the ground to make them behave." It sounds like a blast, and James Gunn has teased a trailer too.

5. Thor: Love And Thunder Set Photos Revealed

JKR31e1345542134444

The first photos from the set of Thor: Love and Thunder were released this week, and they were packed full of reveals. As well as showing off the new costumes which will be worn by the Guardians of the Galaxy, we got to see Thor's rockin' new look, and possibly even Toothgnasher.

The Guardians' new costumes look great, but the big reveal many will be hoping for is a first look at Natalie Portman as the Mighty Thor (expect that to be kept under wraps for a while, though).

4. A New Mid-Season Trailer For WandaVision

JKR31e134554213444445

We've reached the halfway point in WandaVision, and that means we have a new trailer for the Disney+ series! There's quite a bit of new footage in here, and more than a few hints of what's to come.

While this week's episode delivered more answers (and left us with a lot of new questions), there's a lot of intriguing shots here as well. Clearly, Marvel Studios still has a lot of story to tell in WandaVision, but you'll find it hard not to be excited by what's shown off in this latest sneak peek of the show.

Watch this new trailer for WandaVision by heading to the original article.

3. War Machine Will Be In The Falcon And The Winter Soldier

Don Cheadle dropped quite the bombshell this week when he confirmed that War Machine will be part of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. We know the actor will star in Armor Wars, but this is a piece of casting news (not a spoiler!) which came as a pleasant surprise.

"It’s great, I can’t wait to get in the room with the writers and figure out how all those things [connecting Armor Wars to the MCU] happen," he said of his future in the MCU before adding: "You know, Rhodey shows up in Winter Soldier and Falcon’s show."

2. Tom Holland Teases The Epic Scale Of Spider-Man 3

JKR31e1345542134444451r1

Tom Holland is doing the rounds to promote Cherry, and was asked about what fans can expect from Spider-Man 3. He declined to reveal any specifics, but described the movie as  "the most ambitious standalone superhero movie ever made." That's quite a bold statement, don't you think?

"You sit down, read the script, and see what they’re trying to do, and they’re succeeding," he added. "It’s really impressive. I’ve never seen a standalone superhero movie quite like it. And I’m just, you know, again, that lucky little shit who happens to be Spider-Man in it. We got a lot more shooting to do. We started before Christmas and shot for like seven weeks. We stopped for the Christmas break, and then we’re starting again. I’m just as excited as everyone else to see it, let alone be a part of it."

1. A Black Panther Spinoff Is On The Way

JKR31e1345542134444451r

Easily the biggest news story this week was the fact Black Panther director Ryan Coogler is developing an MCU TV series for Disney+ set in the world of Wakanda. We don't know what exactly that will entail, but it should be well worth keeping an eye on given the talent working behind the scenes.

"Ryan Coogler is a singular storyteller whose vision and range have made him one of the standout filmmakers of his generation," said Bob Iger, Executive Chairman, The Walt Disney Company. "With Black Panther, Ryan brought a groundbreaking story and iconic characters to life in a real, meaningful and memorable way, creating a watershed cultural moment. We’re thrilled to strengthen our relationship and look forward to telling more great stories with Ryan and his team."

I'm getting tired of the whole "Luke skywalker" moment as if that's saying something. In the interview she didn't say "there's this Luke Skywalker moment". She was prompted into that from the interview. So who knows. Maybe this isn't what she was thinking about when she said yes. But it's still possible since it does fit it for someone being put on the spot (it is a moment of surprise because it's a character you weren't expecting to show up). The Bettany comment is what we should be focusing on, the actor who hasn't been revealed yet, he's wanted to work with him forever, and they have a powerful scene together. THATS what we should be speculating on.

@Origame - Benedict Cumberbatch. They have never worked together.

@Origame - touche sir. Touche. Well then it certainly will be a suprise to me. If Bettany is being truthful when he says hes never worked with them before.

I hope we get a trailer for Spidey3, eternals, or something else new. I'm going to scream if all we get is a Black Widow trailer.
colonel179
colonel179 - 2/6/2021, 7:39 AM
@WayneFoundation - The first trailer always (almost always?) comes out 6 months before release, so we will have to wait until May for an Eternal trailer.

Spidey trailer should be ways off. Maybe some small tease during Comic-Con or something like that, but don't expect it soon.
MotherFuckerJon
MotherFuckerJon - 2/6/2021, 7:44 AM
@colonel179 - eternals was supposed to come out last year. If I'm not mistaken it's finished filming. I'm just saying I'm tired of waiting for Black Widow. Give me the film already. Shit.
Oskir
Oskir - 2/6/2021, 8:04 AM
@WayneFoundation - Eternals is probably almost finished (if not already) but they wont promote the movie before Shang-Chi which is coming before.
And Marvel will probably wait until Black Widow is locked for its May release before showing anything new for the next movies.

I expect more a sizzle about the D+ shows (Falcon and Winter Soldier, Loki, What if, Ms Marvel and Hawkeye)
A Raya final trailer, and maybe Luca, Cruella or Free Guy thing

Definitely hyped about the Coogler series. There's just so many interesting directions they can go in with a Wakanda show.
