Late on Sunday evening, Sony Pictures dropped the first poster for Spider-Man: No Way Home featuring Tom Holland's wall-crawler facing down Doctor Octopus with the Green Goblin closing in.
However, a clever fan-edit has now been shared online with the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Spider-Man receiving a helping hand from two familiar masked faces. Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker Variants are there to provide our Spidey with some much-needed backup, something we're definitely anticipating seeing in the threequel when it lands next month.
Despite multiple leaks in recent weeks, Sony and Marvel Studios still haven't revealed whether the two previous big screen Spider-Men are going to appear. We're hoping that could change with the release of the next trailer (the wait is proving to be agonising for fans), but it's possible their return is being saved for the movie itself in order to truly "surprise" viewers.
"For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero is unmasked and no longer able to separate his normal life from the high-stakes of being a Super Hero," reads the movie's synopsis. "When he asks for help from Doctor Strange the stakes become even more dangerous, forcing him to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man."
Among the film's confirmed cast members are Tom Holland, Zendaya, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jon Favreau, Jacob Batalon, Marisa Tomei, J. B. Smoove, Benedict Wong, Alfred Molina, and Jamie Foxx.
Spider-Man: No Way Home arrives in U.S. and UK theaters on December 17.
