SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME Concept Art Spotlights Alternate Designs For Green Goblin, Doc Ock, & More

More early concept art for Spider-Man: No Way Home has been shared online, giving us a look at some alternate designs for Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe), Doctor Octopus (Alfred Molina), and more.

We've seen quite a bit of Spider-Man: No Way Home concept art at this stage, but these latest designs from Christian Cordella spotlight some very different looks for some of the movie's villains.

Willem Dafoe's Norman Osborn only spent a few minutes in his original Green Goblin armor before smashing his mask and donning the hoodie/goggles ensemble, and it seems he was always going to wear a variation on that outfit. There are a few differences here, though, including a Hammer Tech hoodie!

Doc Ock (Alfred Molina) looks pretty much the same as he did in the film, but the second image adds a knitted cardigan. Not exactly the most intimating of getups for a supervillain, but it does seem to be inspired by Octavius' appearance in Spider-Man 2 before his fateful accident.

We also have a look at an alternate design for The Sandman (Thomas Haden Church), who is depicted in his human form.

Some fans were a little disappointed that Gobbie wasn't given a fully updated costume for the threequel, but it wouldn't have made much sense since the character was snatched from Sam Raimi's Spider-Man reality after Doctor Strange's spell. Maybe if and when the character returns to The MCU we'll see a more comic-accurate look.

With some very, very mild CGI they can map dafoes face and make a brilliant organic looking Goblin. Why has this not been done?

@PC04 - Tbh his face is already so expressive and Goblin looking that they could have just painted it green lol.

When Norman synthesized that formula to inject himself I legit believed he was preparing something to make him even stronger, and was about to become greener and perhaps a bit deformed, completing the outfit.

Would be great to see him like that, with the plus of seeing Dafoe's expressions as the Goblin.

@Fogs - ….i didn’t think of that, but holy shit would that have been a great twist. Turns out that the goblin persona kicked in when they got to the apartment, and that he was just working on a stronger goblin serum that whole time. Peter webs him before he can use it, may runs off with it, injects him thinking its the cure, it really just turns him kinda green in the face and makes him even stronger. Would have been perfect.

And I thought at the theater "holy crap, they were hiding his true form in the trailer with those dumb goggles!"

I wish we could have gotten some human Sandman here and there. It was weird to see him suddenly stuck in sand form without any explanation.

If they had only done a bit of work on the Lizard. Oh well.

@rychlec -

I know. They have no explanation for Electro being different, so why couldn’t lizard just look different or grow a snout?

LOVE the Hammer Industries softball team sweatshirt 😂

Man, if they don’t bring Sam Rockwell back for either Armor Wars, Thunderbolts, Cap 4, or Ironheart, what a missed opportunity that would be…

The GG "costume" was my only gripe with the movie, I really expected something better and way more comic accurate from Marvel.
