Remember when The Amazing Spider-Man 2's final scene was spoiled in trailers for the movie? Well, this isn't quite as bad as that, but Sony Pictures may have given a little too much away in this new 15-second preview for Spider-Man: No Way Home. Needless to say, you should probably stop reading now if you don't want to potentially learn how this trilogy could wrap up.
In this TV spot, we see a battered Peter Parker tell Doctor Strange to "do it" as the Multiverse starts to break apart around him. Look closer at those runes, though, and you'll see that they appear to be the same ones that the Sorcerer Supreme casts earlier in the movie while attempting to hide Spidey's identity from the world. Might this be a hint that the movie will end with the world forgetting who's beneath the mask?
It would explain that emotional kiss Peter shares with MJ in this teaser, and might be Marvel Studios and Sony's way of closing the door on the hero's time in the MCU just in case another deal between the studios couldn't be struck (producer Amy Pascal, however, says another trilogy is coming).
You can check out the latest Spider-Man: No Way Home TV spot below:
"For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero's identity is revealed, bringing his Super Hero responsibilities into conflict with his normal life and putting those he cares about most at risk," reads the new synopsis. "When he enlists Doctor Strange’s help to restore his secret, the spell tears a hole in their world, releasing the most powerful villains who’ve ever fought a Spider-Man in any universe. Now, Peter will have to overcome his greatest challenge yet, which will not only forever alter his own future but the future of the Multiverse."
Among the film's confirmed cast members are Tom Holland, Zendaya, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jon Favreau, Jacob Batalon, Marisa Tomei, J. B. Smoove, Benedict Wong, J.K. Simmons, Alfred Molina, and Jamie Foxx. Based on the new trailer, we can now add Willem Dafoe, Thomas Haden Church, and Rhys Ifans to that impressive list of actors (fingers crossed for Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield).
Spider-Man: No Way Home arrives in U.S. on December 17 and in the UK on December 15.
