SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME Still Sees Tom Holland's Wall-Crawler At The Mercy Of Doctor Octopus

We're still waiting for the new Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer, but the latest still from the movie shows the Iron Spider at the mercy of Alfred Molina's Doctor Octopus. Check it out after the jump...

Well, this looks familiar, right?

Way back in 2004's Spider-Man 2, Doctor Octopus had Peter Parker at his mercy and very nearly crushed the superhero with his tentacles. That was Tobey Maguire's wall-crawler, but in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Tom Holland's Variant will also find himself defeated by the villainous Doc Ock.

This is an amazing still from the threequel, and is considerably better than the weird shot of a blatantly CG Ock we saw over the weekend. It appears the Green Goblin will also be involved with this battle on the freeway, and you have to believe this could be where the MCU Spidey gets some backup from a couple of familiar webbed wonders. We'll have to wait and see on that front, though.

That aside, who'd have thought we'd ever see Molina's Doctor Octopus battling Holland's Spider-Man?

"For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero is unmasked and no longer able to separate his normal life from the high-stakes of being a Super Hero," reads the movie's synopsis. "When he asks for help from Doctor Strange the stakes become even more dangerous, forcing him to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man."

Among the threequel's confirmed cast members are Tom Holland, Zendaya, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jon Favreau, Jacob Batalon, Marisa Tomei, J. B. Smoove, Benedict Wong, Alfred Molina, and Jamie Foxx. Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Willem Dafoe are among those rumoured to appear.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is set to be released exclusively in theaters on December 17.
