Everyone is talking about the new trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home (watch it here if you missed it), and that's now been followed by a spectacular batch of stills and a brand new synopsis.
As well as offering another glimpse of Electro's new look, the Green Goblin - in his classic costume from Sam Raimi's Spider-Man - takes centre stage. However, the money shot here is undoubtedly Electro, Sandman, and Lizard all gearing up to battle the web-slinger in what promises to be a fight for the ages.
With the trailer suggesting that these villains were all taken from their realities moments before dying at the hands of Peter Parker, it will be interesting to see how Spider-Man: No Way Home handles the concept of Variants. After all, we know Sandman and Lizard lived, but if Loki proved anything, it's that we should expect the unexpected when it comes to the MCU's Multiverse.
"For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero's identity is revealed, bringing his Super Hero responsibilities into conflict with his normal life and putting those he cares about most at risk," reads the new synopsis. "When he enlists Doctor Strange’s help to restore his secret, the spell tears a hole in their world, releasing the most powerful villains who’ve ever fought a Spider-Man in any universe. Now, Peter will have to overcome his greatest challenge yet, which will not only forever alter his own future but the future of the Multiverse."
Among the film's confirmed cast members are Tom Holland, Zendaya, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jon Favreau, Jacob Batalon, Marisa Tomei, J. B. Smoove, Benedict Wong, J.K. Simmons, Alfred Molina, and Jamie Foxx. Based on the new trailer, we can now add Willem Dafoe, Thomas Haden Church, and Rhys Ifans to that impressive list of actors (fingers crossed for Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield).
Spider-Man: No Way Home arrives in U.S. on December 17 and in the UK on December 15.
