RUMOR: Marvel And Sony To Talk SPIDER-MAN Next Year; Kevin Feige Wants Avi Arad GONE

A new report claims that a meeting will take place between Marvel Studios and Sony early next year, with Spider-Man making his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut shortly after if things work out. However, Kevin Feige is determined to make some behind-the-scenes changes...

Take the following with a pinch of salt, but if all these "Sony Hack" reports about Spider-Man have been getting you down, you'd best keep your fingers crossed that it's true! According to Screen Gonzo's sources, a meeting is set to take place between Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures in January, with Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal among those present. They believe that we'll get some "good news" by February, an indication perhaps that Sony are finally giving in and allowing Marvel to take over the Spider-man franchise from at least a creative standpoint. It could be that the character first appears in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in an upcoming after-credits scene, though it's not clear whether the site means Avengers: Age of Ultron or Captain America: Civil War (it appears to be the latter). Kevin Feige is said to be happy with the way the deal is shaping up too.

Something
which was quite unusual about Joe and Anthony Russo offering to serve as producers on the Spider-Man franchise for Sony was how they would fit into that world when they'll seemingly be busy with Avengers: Infinity War. After all, it's hard to imagine Feige being too happy with them diverting their attention elsewhere, especially when Sony are effectively a rival studio to Marvel! This report helps that all make a little more sense, as the Captain America: The Winter Soldier are the ones apparently being eyed to take on a Marvel Studios Spider-Man trilogy, serving as both writers and producers. Also, despite protests from Pascal and others at Sony, Feige wants Avi Arad nowhere near this new take on Spidey, something which should come as a huge relief to fans of the character. As we said, take this with a pinch of salt for now, and stay tuned for more...
