The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents' disappearance - leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr Curt Connors (Ifans), his father's former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors' alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

Unveiled via the official Facebook page for the movie, an alternative version of the IMAX poster for The Amazing Spider-Man offers up a slightly different view than the one released earlier today (find that HERE). It's basically slightly expanded, and zooms out a little to show off more of New York and Spider-Man himself. The second version (the original can be found HERE) is essentially just a banner with a slightly larger background.

STARRING:

Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man
Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy
Rhys Ifans as Curt Connors/The Lizard
Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben
Sally Fields as Aunt May
Denis Leary as George Stacy

RELEASE DATE: July 3rd, 2012.

Cool. I would have liked if they made the suit a bit more like something he made himself but oh well.

would have been nice if the artist continued the webbing to the top of the image instead of letting it just float there like magic
coulda adjusted the reflection in his eyes to match the surroundings too.

so according to this poster
1)spidey has magical webs that hang effortlessly in thin air.
and
2)spidey now has the power to exist in two times of day simultaneously.

Epic photoshop fail

sansClaymore I know right!

ugur90 We aren't talking about Fox. This is sony. The people who have given us two horrible Ghost Rider films and 3 good but not as good as they could have been Spider-man films. That said I still have hope for this movie, it could be good but I'm not holding my breath either. Still I'm not going to hate it just because of the costume. :)

I really hope that this movie, and the subsequent sequels are damn good. Even though Spider-Man 3 was crap, I was so looking forward to them rebounding with a bang for the fourth film. This new franchise seriously better be good.

I haven't exactly been wowed by any of the trailers thus far. Some are good(new Japanese trailer), others are downright terrible(gunslinger webbing the crook), so I hope the movie doesn't follow that same pattern. The suit has grown on me so that doesn't matter much, and although I think Maguire was an excellent Parker, he was an abysmal Spider-Man. Unfortunately Garfield looks to be about the same, just in his own way. I know everyone here gushes over him because he's such a self-professed Spidey fanboy, but lets not forget that it's the performance that will make or break the character here. I think his heart is in the right place, and he seems to nail Parker, but his Spidey mannerisms seem forced, and dude's voice is PAINFUL to listen to when he's in costume. That being said, on the whole I do like what I see from him so far, as nobody's perfect and that's just one piece of an even greater puzzle. I hope the rest of the cast is good; I like Denis Leary, Emma Stone, and Rhy Ifans, but the rest of the cast looks like crap to be honest.

Say what you want about the Raimi movies, but the casting was spot on. Aunt May, JJJ, Robbie, Betty Brant, The Osbornes, Doc Ock, "Crusher Hogan"(Bonesaw), Sandman, and many, many others were expertly cast in their roles. It wasn't perfect, as Eddie Brock and ESPECIALLY MJ were disastrous choices IMO, but otherwise the cast really made those movies shine. I don't know why those flicks get so much flack from people here; they did a lot for the franchise and because of them, this new one has a lot to live up to.
