LOS ANGELES - Spidey fans rejoice! Your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is web-slinging his way to the World Wide Web.
On Dec. 15, 12:01 a.m. EST, the first teaser trailer for the highly anticipated "Spider-Man 2" will premiere worldwide on Yahoo.com.
Based on the comic book superhero, the latest installment of the "Spider-Man" series stars Tobey Maguire as the mild-mannered Peter Parker, who is juggling the delicate balance of his dual life as a college student and a superhuman crime fighter.
This time around, Parker struggles with his friends-only relationship with Mary Jane (Kirsten Dunst) when she begins to date someone new. Alfred Molina joins the cast as the maniacal mad scientist Dr. Octopus, who sports four mechanical tentacles from his torso.
The streaming trailer will be accessible through Yahoo! front pages globally in 13 countries, including the US, Mexico, Canada, Brazil, the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.
"This will be the first wave of our global launch for one of the most anticipated films of 2004," says Geoffrey Ammer, Columbia Tristar's president of worldwide marketing. "The worldwide demand for images and materials from `Spider-Man 2' is nearly insatiable."
The first "Spider-Man" has earned more than $820 million worldwide and ranks as the fifth highest grossing film in U.S. history. "Spider-Man 2" will open nationwide Friday, July 2, 20044.
