SPIDER-MAN 4: Marvel Studios Looking For Director To Helm New Trilogy; BATGIRL Team In Contention?

We have an update on Marvel Studios' hunt for a Spider-Man 4 director, including the fact Ms. Marvel and Batgirl helmers Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah could be in the running to take charge of a trilogy.

Spider-Man 4 is one of Marvel Studios' most highly anticipated movies but, as we write this, it has no release date or even a confirmed director (Jon Watts isn't expected to return after helming the previous trilogy, Homecoming, Far From Home, and No Way Home).

According to Jeff Sneider, Marvel and Sony Pictures are developing a new trilogy together, with the intention being for one director - or a directing duo - to work on all three instalments.

He says it's unclear whether shooting really will begin this fall because Kevin Feige is taking his time choosing a filmmaker and is fully in charge of the creative process. That bodes well for Spider-Man 4 after it was previously reported he might be a little more hands-off due to having so many other commitments in getting the MCU back on the right track.

We've already heard a few different names for the movie, but Sneider makes a point of saying that Feige was particularly impressed with Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah's work on Ms. Marvel

They helmed the premiere and finale of that Disney+ series and also directed Batgirl for Warner Bros. Unfortunately, the movie was scrapped by David Zaslav as part of his cost-cutting measures (resulting in the near-finished blockbuster being deleted, never to be seen again).

Shortly after being fired, the Bad Boys For Life filmmakers shared an email of support they'd received from Feige.

"My friends, I had to reach and let you know we are all thinking about you both," the executive wrote. "Because of the wonderful news about the wedding (congrats!) and the disappointing news about 'Batgirl.' Very proud of you guys and all the amazing work you do and particularly 'Ms. Marvel' of course! Can't wait to see what is next for you. Hope to see you soon."

Alongside Tom Holland, Zendaya is expected to reprise her role as MJ. Sydney Sweeny is rumoured to be playing Black Cat, while Scorpion and even the Spider-Slayers are all said to have been considered as Spider-Man 4's villains. Right now, The Kingpin sounds like a dead cert if social media's scoopers are to be believed.

In terms of plot details, there have recently been rumblings about Peter Parker donning the alien suit first introduced at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home with Venom expected to appear in some capacity.

As always, stay tuned for Spider-Man 4 updates as we have them.

Yeah they're a decent choice honestly. Not to mention they have a good relationship with Sony & Dinsey/Marvel, so I see this as sort of an "obvious and safe" choice, but not a bad one either.

@Spoken - Oh my god, we now have your insight and opinion on a show! I think everyone on CBM can sleep well at night knowing you commented. How else would anyone know these guys are an "obvious and safe" choice without your insight?

@bobevanz - I didn't know she was an incel.

Get that dumpy incel broad that made She-Hulk on it!

@Batmangina - what most people always seem to forget is the first instance of someone being called an incel was a woman self describing herself as one.

Now it's just hilariously being treated as this internet boogeyman when it's literally just someone who doesn't have sex. 🤣

@Origame - I love how these internet goofs think that actually means something.

My ex wives would think it was hilarious.

When did everyone get so [frick]ing soft? What a bunch of pussies.

@Batmangina - I blame colleges encouraging safe spaces from "triggering" ideas.

@The1st - oh no I agree. I think colleges should be exposing you to uncomfortable opinions. If not, how will you know how to deal with them?

@Origame - That's an interesting fact. Sort of like the term "Woke" was a descriptor - a compliment, really - for those who were considered enlightened or in possession of real understanding, and was since coopted as "this internet boogeyman."
Origame
Origame - 5/21/2024, 12:15 PM
@Patient2670 - not really. You're right that woke originally meant someone who was aware of the injustices around them. But it was actually used by left extremists for their movement. Then the right started to use it as describing leftist talking points but only after the left used it first.

@Patient2670 - I do remember it being complementary at one point - mostly from POC towards nonPOC as being genuine allies.

The concept then got co-opted by the liberal white women and the kids they were buying college admissions for and when the regular folk got tired of shrill [frick]ing harpies talking shit and found out the Going Woke means Going Broke, it was game over.
Patient2670
Patient2670 - 5/21/2024, 1:24 PM
@Origame - How is that not the same thing? Aside from being reduced to left vs right. A term that was once innocuous, being used as an insult. Are you inferring that it's only wrong if it conflicts with your political ideaology?
Patient2670
Patient2670 - 5/21/2024, 1:31 PM
@Batmangina - You're actually making my point for me. I'm not trying to reclaim the term, I'm just illustrationg the way terms like woke and Incel are coopted for the same reasons. Belittling or insulting those with ideals different from ones own.
Origame
Origame - 5/21/2024, 2:53 PM
@Patient2670 - if by insult you mean literally what they described themselves as, then sure.
Patient2670
Patient2670 - 5/21/2024, 3:06 PM
@Origame - I never said it was a good or even valid insult. But the intent is definitely there.
Origame
Origame - 5/21/2024, 3:24 PM
@Patient2670 - it's not much of an insult if it's just pointing out what they're doing.
Patient2670
Patient2670 - 5/21/2024, 5:00 PM
@Origame - "Get that dumpy incel broad that made She-Hulk on it!" This isn't meant to be insulting? Passively insulting, sure. But definitely not a term of endearment. I don't know if you're a person of color, but if not, do you refer to black people by the same N-word that they sometimes refer to each other? if not, why, by your logic?
Origame
Origame - 5/21/2024, 5:42 PM
@Patient2670 - ...we were talking about woke.
Patient2670
Patient2670 - 5/21/2024, 5:50 PM
@Origame - Actually, our conversation started as a reply to your comment: " what most people always seem to forget is the first instance of someone being called an incel was a woman self describing herself as one. Now it's just hilariously being treated as this internet boogeyman when it's literally just someone who doesn't have sex. 🤣".

I simply made the comparison to how the term woke was coopted.
Origame
Origame - 5/21/2024, 6:00 PM
@Patient2670 - ...and I addressed the comment woke.

But funny you should bring up the incel comment, because they was in response to bobevanz calling @Batmangina an incel. But guess insults only matter when it's from the side you disagree with 🙄
Patient2670
Patient2670 - 5/21/2024, 6:21 PM
@Origame - Not at all. I wouldn't have brought anything up at all if it hadn't already been the point of discussion. And if you notice, I wasn't insulting anybody. Even when I questioned what makes it ok to coopt those terms. I just asked - politely, I might add. I'm not even the one who brought left vs right wing ideology into it.
Batmangina
Batmangina - 5/21/2024, 6:31 PM
@Patient2670 - I actually was trying to help illustrate your point - the funniest part is the leftists who are super inclusive tend to get the most violently upset when their terminology is used against them.

They tend to think emotionally, so the concept of someone not giving a [frick] about words being tossed around is difficult for them to wrap their heads around.

You can call me anything you want and I will still shit on the failure of woke ass DEI garbage like the new all-time lows of Gay Black Doctor WHO.

Now it's Doctor WHO GIVES A [frick]...? The answer is MILLIONS LESS THIS WEEK and MORE TO FOLLOW.
Batmangina
Batmangina - 5/21/2024, 6:35 PM
@Origame - Correct - if you have the imaginary moral high ground that comes with the oppression olympics, any and everything you say about anyone who doesn't tow the party line is fair game.

The idea that the opposition could not give any less of a [frick] about a bunch of bitchy whiners opinions is a foreign concept tho...
Origame
Origame - 5/21/2024, 6:40 PM
@Patient2670 - woke wasn't part of the discussion at all. And I never claimed you insulted anyone. Read my comment again.
Origame
Origame - 5/21/2024, 6:42 PM
@Batmangina - they'll insist to not whine about fiction, until there are too many white straight men in it 🤣
Batmangina
Batmangina - 5/21/2024, 7:01 PM
@Origame - Which is hilarious since the census has the US 75.8% white if you count Hispanics that identify as white - which I'm not sure if the wokies allow that or not lol

So any project that doesn't have 7 out of 10 characters being white is a misrepresentation 🤣
Origame
Origame - 5/21/2024, 7:33 PM
@Batmangina - funny thing is wokies will count it as 35% white men, then 35% white women. Then they'll lump all minorities as people of color.

Manipulating facts much?
Patient2670
Patient2670 - 5/22/2024, 11:26 AM
@Origame - I didn't think you were accusing me of being insulting. I was trying to illustrate the fact that these conversations can happen without insults being lobbed(which, by the way, I am not at all accusing you of itrying to insult me either). I'm the one who originally brought up the term used woke. And only as a comparison (not a counter point) to the comment you made in regards to the origin and evolution of the term incel. Which simply shows both sides of the scale employing the same tactics of coopting colloquialisms. I'm not choosing the left or the right, and I certainly dont get insulted by the words of people who don't know me, and I will never know. I'm Just talking about the intent behind the copting of these words.
Origame
Origame - 5/22/2024, 11:46 AM
@Patient2670 - if it's not about right or left why are you only addressing us who are taking the right wing position and not the guy also insulting who's on the left side?
Patient2670
Patient2670 - 5/22/2024, 12:24 PM
@Origame - One more time, I'm not calling out anybody for being insulting. I replied specifically to your comment about coopting a word and you engaged in conversation. You're the one who keeps coming back to Right and Left. Simple as that.
Origame
Origame - 5/22/2024, 12:27 PM
@Patient2670 - you literally called woke the internet boogeyman.
Patient2670
Patient2670 - 5/22/2024, 12:39 PM
@Origame - Actually, I simply quoted you.
