SPIDER-MAN 4: Marvel Studios' Plans For Venom Symbiote Both Previously And Moving Forward Possibly Revealed

Some possible details have been revealed about Marvel Studios' plans for the Venom symbiote in the MCU, while we also have intel on plans for the alien costume before Sony Pictures released 2018's Venom.

There's still a lot of uncertainty surrounding Tom Holland's future as Spider-Man. While Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios have seemingly put past differences aside, we've heard nothing official about the actor's MCU return beyond some online chatter that he's finally signed a new deal.

In Spider-Man: No Way Home's mid-credits scene, we saw Eddie Brock and Venom sent back to their own universe, though a piece of the alien was left behind. While it's in Mexico for the time being, we have to believe the symbiote is eventually going to find its way to New York City...and Peter Parker.

According to the Heavy Spoilers YouTube channel, Marvel Studios originally "had [a] big plan" to "slowly build up towards the black suit," only for that to change thanks to Venom's release in 2018. It never made much sense for Spider-Man to return from his outer space adventure in Avengers: Infinity War without it, so we have to believe Sony derailed those plans.

In fact, the launch of the Venom franchise is said to have caused "a lot of trouble behind the scenes," and it sounds like Kevin Feige pushed to stop Holland's wall-crawler from appearing in Venom.

While the new deal signed in 2019 appears to have opened the door to crossovers - which have been restricted to vague Multiverse ties thus far - it seems Spidey will remain exclusive to the MCU.

As for what the future holds in store for the Venom symbiote in that world, it's added that Spider-Man 4 won't focus on the black suit because "they're saving it for a film further down the line." This actually lines up with what we've heard about the sequel being a grounded adventure before Spidey encounters the alien suit later in his next trilogy.

Nothing here is official, and should, as always, be taken with a pinch of salt for now. However, it feels like there are big plans in place for Spider-Man in the MCU, and the Venom symbiote being involved is definitely exciting. If Venom 3 ends that Eddie Brock Variant's story, perhaps his MCU counterpart could show up in Spider-Man 5, played by Tom Hardy?

Spider-Man 4 is expected to be released in 2024.
