SPIDER-MAN 4: Marvel Studios' Plans For Venom Symbiote Both Previously And Moving Forward Possibly Revealed

Some possible details have been revealed about Marvel Studios' plans for the Venom symbiote in the MCU, while we also have intel on plans for the alien costume before Sony Pictures released 2018's Venom.

There's still a lot of uncertainty surrounding Tom Holland's future as Spider-Man. While Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios have seemingly put past differences aside, we've heard nothing official about the actor's MCU return beyond some online chatter that he's finally signed a new deal.

In Spider-Man: No Way Home's mid-credits scene, we saw Eddie Brock and Venom sent back to their own universe, though a piece of the alien was left behind. While it's in Mexico for the time being, we have to believe the symbiote is eventually going to find its way to New York City...and Peter Parker.

According to the Heavy Spoilers YouTube channel, Marvel Studios originally "had [a] big plan" to "slowly build up towards the black suit," only for that to change thanks to Venom's release in 2018. It never made much sense for Spider-Man to return from his outer space adventure in Avengers: Infinity War without it, so we have to believe Sony derailed those plans.

In fact, the launch of the Venom franchise is said to have caused "a lot of trouble behind the scenes," and it sounds like Kevin Feige pushed to stop Holland's wall-crawler from appearing in Venom.

While the new deal signed in 2019 appears to have opened the door to crossovers - which have been restricted to vague Multiverse ties thus far - it seems Spidey will remain exclusive to the MCU.

As for what the future holds in store for the Venom symbiote in that world, it's added that Spider-Man 4 won't focus on the black suit because "they're saving it for a film further down the line." This actually lines up with what we've heard about the sequel being a grounded adventure before Spidey encounters the alien suit later in his next trilogy.

Nothing here is official, and should, as always, be taken with a pinch of salt for now. However, it feels like there are big plans in place for Spider-Man in the MCU, and the Venom symbiote being involved is definitely exciting. If Venom 3 ends that Eddie Brock Variant's story, perhaps his MCU counterpart could show up in Spider-Man 5, played by Tom Hardy?

Spider-Man 4 is expected to be released in 2024.

I feel that both post credits scenes( from Venom 2 and NWH) were a big fat “HA HA, we got you”. He showed up in the MCU, got drunk and went home. A piece of the symbiote broke off, which they’ve NEVER shown to happen before and that was it. I feel like I was bamboozled by both movies.

I mean they are making a secret wars movie so, I’d imagine it’ll show up then

@Twenty23Three - MARVEL has done one great thing with phase 4: Given themselves MANY OPTIONS. Here's hoping they put Holland in a symbiote suit that looks exactly like the one in the above pic.

I have longed to see the real suit since early 2000s.

PS: Give that guy in Waukegan, IL or Kenosha, WI his props for winning the contest and creating the symbiote costume way back in the 80s! He deserves some love!!!

@Twenty23Three - I was going to say the exact same thing! We're not seeing MCU Peter in that suit until May 1, 2026. Andrew Garfield S-M on the other hand...

@VictorAlonzo - how can I see that costume?

@VictorAlonzo - I knew the suit was designed by a fan, but I had no idea it was crafted by a man from my hometowns! I grew up in Waukegan and moved to Kenosha when I was young. That's pretty crazy and even more of a reason to love the suit.

@TheRose - After doing some goog checks, I've yet to confirm the Waukegan, IL or Kenosha, WI hometown. I may have confused him with Ghost Riders origin. If so- my bad.

I do know that his name is Randy Schueller. So there's that...

While I do wish we could have gotten the black suit from maybe Titan or something like that with Spidey still being “green” it can turn out great now that he has matured. Also he can use the help of Dr Conners as he did in the 90s show.

@cjspade - Or maybe even Reed Richards like in the comics.

I dreamt it the day I saw it - Infinity War - on Titan - I mean, a 35 sec post credit scene... Going back to the fight on Titan when Mantis was tossed. How EASY could it have been to revisit that scene, show Spider-man catch her and as they were falling to the ground, the camera pans out to where they will will be landing a rolling, zooms in on a this little black goo like substance, then, as Peter rolls over it, the camera stays on that spot and we no longer see anything there... What a perfect way to introduce it, and then they could have had little shorts through the next movies and what not of where it has been seen, but not ready to form. That's all. I know, red tape, layers, blah blah blah... but still....

That is interesting indeed.

I even thought the emblem on the Iron Spidey suit looked a little similar to the symbiote logo somewhat.

Sounds like a mess if true. I never understood how Sony would be pumping out movies about Spider-Man’s villains with no Spider-Man? Venom is the worst offender. No Spider-Man, no Venom.

they dont need to do venom right now. i think its better to get some other spidy villains before a big nemesis character like that. bring in the mcu goblin id say. tom has yet to reach spidey at his peak

tom will have PTSD from GG and i think it would be a smart idea to have an mcu goblin take inspiration from GG. it would play into toms mind and make him very emotional and traumatised and it would be an interesting way to go.

toms spidey is completely alone now, he has nothing. so it would mess him up

Yes, save it for a movie made AFTER the Spider-Man movie featuring Michael Mando as Mac Gargan/Scorpion. If he can wait all this time, the symbiote can wait a little longer.

@OrgasmicPotatoe - I feel like they sadly aborted that one, but we'll see.
