SPIDER-MAN 4: Minor Update Shared After Sony Failed To Bring The Movie To CinemaCon This Week

Unfortunately, there was no mention of Spider-Man 4 during Sony Pictures' CinemaCon presentation on Monday, but we now have a minor update which explains that and where things currently stand with the hero.

Spider-Man: No Way Home ended with the world forgetting who Peter Parker is. The teenager moved into Manhattan and finally embraced his comic book roots, bringing him more in line with the wall-crawler we know and love from the comic books.

Now, with his own homemade costume and the fact he's embarking on a career as a friendly neighbourhood street-level superhero, the stage has been set for a very exciting Spider-Man 4. That movie still hasn't been officially announced and Sony Pictures made no mention of it during its CinemaCon presentation this past Monday (instead, Kraven the Hunter received the spotlight).

A small update has since been shared by Big Screen Leaks, revealing that the project is currently "not far enough in development to warrant [being showcased]."

We're assuming it's still too early for even a release date announcement and, at this rate, we'll see Spider-Man again in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty (where Tom Holland is rumoured to have a lead role) before his own solo outing.

The insider would go on to reiterate past reports by saying "Tom, Zendaya and Jon Watts are all returning," adding that Marvel Studios and Sony are "figuring out how to work around Tom and Zendaya’s busy schedules."

With Zendaya returning as MJ, it clearly won't be long before she remembers the man she loves. In the closing moments of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Peter had a brief conversation with her and there was what many fans believe to be a brief flicker of recognition as he left. Could love overcome Doctor Strange's spell? Here's hoping.

In terms of plot details, we have pretty much nothing at this stage, though several reliable scoopers have claimed the plan is for Spider-Man and Daredevil to team up and battle The Kingpin as part of the overarching street-level story Marvel Studios has planned.

Keep checking back here for updates on Spider-Man 4.

Don’t bring back Ned & MJ. New trilogy, new supporting characters.

@Madman - no reason they can't bring back those characters. Sure they don't remember who he is..but still.

Michael Rianda (The Mitchells vs. the Machines) to direct Spider-Man 4. Kingpin as Mayor of New York, the return of the Scorpion, and the Spider-Slayers.

@Repian -
I'm fine with Scorpion, but Kingpin without Daredevil is an oof and Disney+ Kingpin sucks.

As for the Spider-Slayers, I'd rather not see Spider-man just destroying more robots like in Far From Home.

Nah. No more MJ. Unless it's like a little cameo or something. Don't lessen the impact NWH's if you're just gonna bring his old friends back in his life.

Let him make new ones like...

As with everything Marvel and DC I'm cautioning for a slower pace in releases. Don't flood the market, the fatigue has hit and the genre needs to carefully maneuver around it as to not go the way of western movies.

One movie per studio a year, be careful and plan around each other. Otherwise the greed might kill the genre.

@Blergh - You just wrote what I have been telling all my friends that watch comic book movies.I also use western movie's as my example.Great comment.

@Blergh - Agreed on being careful about the fatigue, except for the one film a year part. I don't think that pace lends itself to a shared universe like the MCU or DCU. That would mean that to get a spiderman trilogy you'd have to wait even longer than the two year per film production time that it takes to just get one film out. To get a trilogy you'd have to wait roughly 6-7 years, and that's if they make each film back to back. That would also mean pushing out other films of lesser importance to make way for the ones that pull in big money. I think 2-3 films a year is probably the best for what the MCU is.

I think they just need to shrink the amount of Disney+ series and keep it for special presentations, or the odd show that is worth it like Daredevil.

@Blergh - that one film and year thing has no chance of happening, like no chance at all.

Spider-man is the only thing people are interested at the moment that's related to the MCU, the lack of capitalizing and building a cinematic universe off the success of Spider-man: NWH is a massive mistake. You could announce Raimi Spider-man 4, TASM 3 or Holland Spider-man 4 and it'd have made everyone go wild. The longer they leave an announcement, the worse situation the Marvel Brand will be if it's another partnership.

Disney Marvel will be on the phone to Sony hurry up with the release date, we need to make some money.

I really dont like Tom's peter parker/ spiderman. does anyone feel we've had a true to comic books version of him?

but I think no way home was a solid movie. silly plot, but its cbm world.

How does Spider-man fight half the Avengers, aliens and a Mad Titan with a reality warping oven mitt and then expect any “street level” villain to pose a threat? 🤷🏾‍♂️🤣🤣

It should be called Spider-Man Homebound. The villain should be Scorpion who escaped prison during the Blip. After the events of No Way Home, His vendetta against Spider-Man has grown tremendously knowing that Spider-Man is active again. Gargan seeks out the Tinkerer to build him a suit capable of taking on Spider-Man. The Tinkerer has been working for Wilson Fisk since the arrest of Adrian Toomes. Fisk has also hired William and his Mysterio tech. Spider-Man thwarts Scorpion and gets the Tinkerer arrested. The post mid credit scene shows a fully suited Shocker attacking the police escort taking Tinkerer. He breaks him out and says "Big Man wants a meeting". The post credit scene would be Shocker opening an abandoned warehouse door showing a round table in the center with Mac Gargan, Adrian Toomes, and William and a Mysterio Hologram all seated. Tinkerer sits down and Fisk walks in. He walks in and throws a folder on the table with six suits. We get a glimpse of a new Vulture and Scorpion blueprint and they all look to Fisk and the scene ends.

Since there's no official announcement of a new deal with Marvel, I don't imagine there'd be any word about a sequel.

Am I the only one who remembers the last deal was for one Spiderman film (NWH) and one MCU film?
