Spider-Man: No Way Home ended with the world forgetting who Peter Parker is. The teenager moved into Manhattan and finally embraced his comic book roots, bringing him more in line with the wall-crawler we know and love from the comic books.
Now, with his own homemade costume and the fact he's embarking on a career as a friendly neighbourhood street-level superhero, the stage has been set for a very exciting Spider-Man 4. That movie still hasn't been officially announced and Sony Pictures made no mention of it during its CinemaCon presentation this past Monday (instead, Kraven the Hunter received the spotlight).
A small update has since been shared by Big Screen Leaks, revealing that the project is currently "not far enough in development to warrant [being showcased]."
We're assuming it's still too early for even a release date announcement and, at this rate, we'll see Spider-Man again in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty (where Tom Holland is rumoured to have a lead role) before his own solo outing.
The insider would go on to reiterate past reports by saying "Tom, Zendaya and Jon Watts are all returning," adding that Marvel Studios and Sony are "figuring out how to work around Tom and Zendaya’s busy schedules."
With Zendaya returning as MJ, it clearly won't be long before she remembers the man she loves. In the closing moments of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Peter had a brief conversation with her and there was what many fans believe to be a brief flicker of recognition as he left. Could love overcome Doctor Strange's spell? Here's hoping.
In terms of plot details, we have pretty much nothing at this stage, though several reliable scoopers have claimed the plan is for Spider-Man and Daredevil to team up and battle The Kingpin as part of the overarching street-level story Marvel Studios has planned.
