Though he won't say when he stopped drinking, the actor says that he finds Alcoholics Anonymous a form of "no-frills spirituality. ...It's just all practical," he tells interviewer David Sheff in the August Playboy. "There are no holes in the program. It's so, so simple. I come in, I ask for help. It has totally changed my life."
Maguire is less forthcoming about his relationship, and breakup, with Spidey's on-screen love interest, Kirsten Dunst. It had been speculated that her fun-loving ways may not have sat well with his need to stay away from liquor.
"That's the boundary I won't cross," he says.
Maguire, now dating Jennifer Meyer, does say he wants to wait until his 30's to have children.
"Thirty-two to 36 seems like a good window," says the actor, who turns 28 on Friday.
