Deadline Hollywood claims that the studio and producers Laura Ziskin and Avi Arad have now met with Marc Webb, the director of (500) Days of Summer, about helming their reboot of the Spider-Man franchise. Webb's name surfaced as a candidate to direct almost as soon as the news of the reboot broke earlier this week.

The site adds that the studio's wish list of possible candidates to replace Sam Raimi in the director's chair are James Cameron, David Fincher, and Wes Anderson.

David Fincher and Spider-Man screenwriter James Vanderbilt previously worked together on Zodiac, while Cameron was attached to direct the first Spidey film well over a decade ago.

Haven't seen Seabiscuit or 500 Days of Summer, so I can't really judge the guy's work. Though I've heard tons of good things about Summer.

I'd go for Kevin Smith or Matthew Vaugh personally.

David Fincher, eh? Interesting. He'd definitely make me go see a Spider-Man film, if he was directing. But he needs to direct a Batman and Deadpool movie!

I know It's kind of a Chick flick sorta but I liked (500) Days of Summers.

It was comedic at times so He wont be that bad.I would still rather have Matthew Vaughn or David Fincher.Wes Anderson....meh.

Has anybody noticed that theyre wish list is exactcly like Ign's.

I loved Zodiac so I'm all for David Fincher taking over this movie as director! :) I havent actually seen any of Webb's movies though so I cant really judge whether he'd be any good or not!

Guys, check out my SPIDER-MAN REBOOT Fan Cast under "Fan Fic"!!!

Anybody who suggests that cameron should direct needs to read his script and think again. He's a great director but that spidey script sucks.

Tyler: I didn't know this guy did Seabiscuit, that was an outstanding movie.

If you get the chance rent it, great movie IMO.

LEEE: Your crazy as a loon.:)

access: Ah, it's funny because his last name is Webb and spiders make webs and the name of the movie is Spider-Man! Oh the hilarious irony! J/K :)

Hawks: Cool, I'll consider taking a look in the ol' Blockbuster :)

EDIT: Never mind, LOL, the guy didn't do Seabiscuit. My mistake everyone! I was thinking of Gary Ross, who I heard mentioned somewhere in the reboot article as a possible director. My apologies, again.

i dont mind this guy. all of you who are droolin over james cameron need to do some research and check out what he wants to do with the characters... its not pretty. i think i read it on here a few weeks back that he had a storyline that involved pete cursing, killing, and nailing different chicks on top of the brooklyn bridge? sorry as fun as it may sound thats not peter parker.

Why is anyone on here surprised that SONY is making a stupid decision about making a CBM? Imagine a Snyder Spiderman...or what about a JJ Abrams...I mean the list goes on...If you're going to reboot...DO IT RIGHT...

@Multi-Agree with you on Snyder, but he needs a shot on a long running comic at some point, doesn't he? I do believe he is someone who would use the source material and learn from any mistakes he WILL make in the first movie.

uk: And no one quite sucks at being in remakes of Psycho like Vaughn. He's a master!

I'd be cool with Snyder, I'd be able to get the slo-mo filled, bloody, limb-chopping Spidey film I've always wanted. With a sex scene in the middle to the tune of Hallelujah. J/K :)
