Spider-Man: Brand New Day lives up to its title by serving as a fresh start for the MCU's Peter Parker. Now, after a movie that saw Spidey set out to protect New York from a vengeful Jean Grey and the rampaging Savage Hulk, all eyes are on what comes next.

One of the biggest requests from fans is a team-up with Daredevil. We're hopeful it will eventually happen, but as of now, it doesn't appear to be the plan. Still, the Man Without Fear could (and should) show up for a supporting turn in any one of these iterations of Spider-Man 5.

Below, you'll find our take on five possible directions for the Spider-Man: Brand New Day sequel. Those range from the long-awaited MCU debut of Venom to Miles Morales' introduction and a fresh take on some familiar faces.

Venom Returns

After years of teases, Spider-Man 5 can finally deliver the MCU's take on Venom. With Tom Holland's Peter Parker widely expected to encounter the Symbiote during Avengers: Secret Wars, the stage would be perfectly set for the alien costume to follow him back to Earth and become the driving force behind his next solo adventure.

There are two obvious directions Marvel Studios could take. The first is bringing back Tom Hardy's Eddie Brock following his brief MCU cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home's post-credits scene. While Venom: The Last Dance appeared to wrap up his story, a soft reboot for the franchise can bring a new version of Eddie into Spidey's world.

The alternative—and, in some ways, more exciting possibility—is introducing an MCU version of Venom through Mac Gargan. After the beating he took in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, he's no doubt desperate for revenge and becoming Venom is arguably a natural next step. Either way, a darker, more aggressive Peter Parker battling Venom feels like a natural evolution after Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Spider-Man vs. Wolverine

thoughts on the recent spiderman vs wolverine fight v0 funwvbmkza9f1 copy

If Marvel Studios continues weaving Spider-Man into the MCU's upcoming Mutant Saga, there's arguably no better character to pair him with than Wolverine. The contrast between Peter Parker's youthful optimism and Logan's gruff, no-nonsense personality has always made for comic book gold, and it's a dynamic that would translate well to the big screen.

Whether that's Hugh Jackman's iconic version or a brand-new actor taking over the role, seeing the two heroes reluctantly forced to work together would be a major draw. The relationship would also echo the dynamic Peter shared with The Punisher in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, with the hero constantly trying to stop his far more brutal ally from crossing moral lines.

Spider-Man no longer needs a mentor, so a team-up like this has heaps of potential. The MCU movies still haven't revealed how the web-slinger gained his powers, so it's not outside the realm of possibility that he's eventually revealed as a mutant. Alternatively, Logan might want a word about the power-dampening inhibitor chip Spidey created.

Peter Parker Meets Miles Morales

spider verse team up 2014 2 art by dave williams and andrew crossley copy

There's a very real desire to see a live-action Miles Morales in the MCU. However, rather than immediately replacing Peter Parker, Spider-Man 5 can take inspiration from Insomniac's acclaimed Spider-Man games by introducing Miles as a younger hero-in-training. Peter, now older and more experienced after everything he's endured, is a natural fit to serve as a mentor, something his run-in with Jean Grey proved.

It would also give the MCU time to properly develop Miles before he inevitably takes centre stage. Tom Holland has spoken openly about not wanting to play Spider-Man forever, and gradually building toward two Spider-Men protecting New York would make his eventual departure feel earned instead of abrupt.

The actor also wants to pass the torch to a young actor, similar to what Robert Downey Jr. did for him when he joined the MCU in 2016. If we get to learn how Miles became Spider-Man, then it also opens the door to flashbacks revisiting the fateful day Peter acquired his amazing abilities.

New Takes On Classic Villains

MAR240578

The Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus are two of Spider-Man's greatest enemies, both on the page and screen, but that doesn't mean the MCU should avoid them simply because previous versions were so memorable.

Spider-Man: No Way Home celebrated Willem Dafoe and Alfred Molina's performances, but those Variants shouldn't prevent Marvel Studios from introducing entirely new versions of Norman Osborn and Otto Octavius. Recasting either role would allow the MCU to build long-term relationships between Peter and his greatest foes instead of relying on Multiversal visitors.

A fresh Norman Osborn could serve as Peter's greatest threat over multiple films, whether he dons the classic costume or becomes a demonic, Hulk-like monster. An Ultimate Universe-style Doctor Octopus, meanwhile, would offer a scientific rival capable of challenging Spider-Man intellectually as well as physically. Black Cat's MCU would also be welcomed after "Felicia" briefly showed up in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Morlun

Morlun %28Earth 001%29 from Spider Man Vol 4 1 001 copy

Spider-Man: Brand New Day further explored Peter Parker's powers through his "Spider Puberty," and Spider-Man 5 has the potential to take that even further with the introduction of Morlun. Unlike Spider-Man's more traditional rogues, he brings a supernatural element to the franchise and opens the door to exploring that side of Spidey's abilities.

The ancient, seemingly unstoppable predator feeds on the life force of Spider-Totems, making him one of the most dangerous enemies Peter has ever faced. He's also a villain audiences haven't seen on the big screen before, giving Marvel Studios the chance to break away from familiar territory while introducing the web-slinger's most formidable opponent yet.

Perhaps most importantly, Morlun opens the door to even bigger stories. As an Inheritor, he's connected to the Spider-Verse and could even help connect Peter with Miles Morales. Heck, if Sony and Marvel really want to up the ante, then why not bring back Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's Spider-Men for the franchise's most epic team-up to date?

For the official word, Kevin Feige has already addressed Spider-Man 5, Sadie Sink's secret role, and that Brand New Day spoiler.

Spidey must face Kingpin in the MCU. And it’s time for an MCU take on Harry and Norman. I’d love a take where Peter meets the MCU Ozborns but doesn’t trust Norman due to the version who killed May. The twist is that this version is altruistic but Peter’s mistrust somehow leads to him turning into the Goblin. Peter inadvertently creates his greatest for

For awhile I thought they would eventually go down the symbiote route, then eventually getting to introducing MCU versions of the Raimi and Webb villains, but I'm not so sure now. It seems like the decision to try new things and introduce new villains and characters has connected with the general public far more than I thought it would, as we're seeing with BND, so i think they will continue to try new things moving forward.

@Mrnorth1921 - Honestly , I wouldn’t want Morlun in the MCU but I could see him working in a new Sony universe…

I quite liked Spider-Noir and wouldn’t mind if we get more Spuder variant heroes like that theatrically and/or on tv such as Spider Gwen and 2099 so when they are set up , you could then have Morlun and his inheritors try to hunt & feed on them across the Multiverse which causes all the variants to team up!!.

Hard to predict anything until we see what tone and direction doomsday and secret wars will have. The spidey movies have been so good at being spidey movies but in between, the MCU in general is taking these crazy escalations. If this was simply a sequel to this movie given what’s happening RIGHT NOW in the MCU, a team up with daredevil against a gang war in New York would work. I think having punisher and daredevil as allies makes it reasonable that a black suit could still push Peter to darker methods until miles pulls him back from the brink and the two have to take on venom together. I also think keeping Ned in the dark about spidey’s identity but keeping him obsessed could lead to a hobgoblin story, just not hobgoblin and venom together. We did that with raimi’s third movie.

#1 priority has to be Venom.

An epic 2 movie Spidey vs Eddie Brock Venom ripped right out of the comics. Just have Spidey come home from Secret Wars with some goo on his show.

Forget the Tom Hardy stuff. Do it right.

Another multi-billion-dollar bonanza just waiting to happen.

There are definitely some interesting routes MCU Spidey can go such as Mac Gargan Venom and I’m still holding out hope for the likes of Kraven , Hobgoblin , Mr Negative as villains in future films tbh.

However I still think introducing a new Norman Osborn considering Peter has a history with a version of him could be interesting in that Peter could feel anger and be weary of him considering a variant of his killed Aunt May but this Norman seems like a genuinely good man so the conflict could be is this Norman who he says he is and if so , is him becoming the Green Goblin an eventuality or something that is unintentionally set in motion by Peter that he realizes when it’s too late?.

I also think you could introduce a less sympathetic version of Ock than Alfred Molina’s as we have had in other iterations and the comics for the MCU.

I still think it's too early for Myles. There are several Peter stories not yet explored some of which are listed in the article that belong to him. I believe introducing Myles with Peter will be one of the biggest movies in the franchise. But let's wait until stories like the clone saga and others then introduce Myles. But when they do, that can be the time they show a flashback when Peter explains to Myles how he got his powers and vise versa.
ChrisRed

I think a very likely scenario is that Peter will have the black suit in SM5 following Secret Wars.

The movie will most likely also introduce Miles and feature his origin story.

Who the villain will be, is a good question. Maybe a take on Doc Ock or a Goblin - perhaps even Ned, if they can fit it into the story.

As for other MCU characters, Mr Fantastic is an obvious choice as he has ties to the "new suit" in the comics. Human Torch could also be there as Spidey's superhero pal.

In the end of the movie, Miles will have to fight Peter and convince him to get rid of the symbiote.

Spider-Man 6 can then feature both Peter and Miles fighting Mac Gargan after he becomes Venom and attempts to start a symbiote invasion - maybe even Knull can make a appearance after we were cheated of that in Venom 3.
The movie can end with Peter officially retiring and pass the torch to Miles.
Other MCU characters could include maybe (Cosmic) Ghost Rider or something...

@ChrisRed - Mr. Fantastic does make a ton of sense if they want another MCU partner. Could also set up a Future Foundation team down the line.

That said, Ghost Rider would be hella cool too

Spider-Man 5 - Spider-Man and Venom vs Knull. Symbiote from No Way Home attaches itself to Peter in Secret Wars. Venom survives the ending of Last Dance and comes back to Eddie. Knull breaks free from his prison and teleports to 616 and Venom/Eddie come along for the ride to pick up the Symbiote that was left. At first Venom fights Spider-Man but then obviously team up to defeat Knull. Throughout the movie introduce Miles as Peter’s neighbor. Also, Ned and MJ remember Peter :)

Spider-Man 6 - Smythe and Jackal try to clone Spider-Man using his blood off of a street fight. They infuse it with a spider and they create Ben Reilly using the spider blood and Peter’s blood. Scarlet Spider is used to do their bidding. Miles gets his powers from the same spider that created Ben. Peter trains Miles throughout the movie like the video game and convinces Ben to turn good and then the final battle is Spidey, Miles, and Scarlet Spider vs Smythe, his spider machines, and Jackal. Ben dies, Peter loses his powers, and miles takes over as Spider-Man. Peter gets to live a normal life with MJ and Ned, Peter proposes to MJ and Ned his best man.

You’re welcome

I think Wilding forgets (as per usual) that they have made it clear, Miles in live action is not happening anytime soon. Eventually yes. But not soon. And the idea of taking time to develop him?... Why the hell would he need more than one movie to be developed?
Holland btw has been volunteering that he would like to see the symbiote. No one's asking him abiut it, he just keeps mentioning it. I for one think that Peter is rebuilding a new life as peter Parker but fhe acquisition of this symbiote and the changes it makes in him threaten to destroy this new life before it's even begun.

Question is moreso what "Day" they're gonna cram in the title and what MCU partner Spider-Man is gonna get. Daredevil? Shang-Chi? Ghost Rider?

As for villains, I'm fine with them skipping classic villains like Green Goblin and Doc Ock. The Raimi versions are pretty definitive, and Holland faced them too.

Do hope we get Kingpin, the Sinister Six and a new take on Venom.
