DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN Actor Responds To SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY Trailer Appearance

One of the biggest talking points from the first Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer was a brief glimpse of a character from Daredevil: Born Again, and the actor in question has now responded...

The first trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day debuted online earlier this week, and among the exciting shots of Spidey in action and teasing glimpses of the Webhead taking on various villains was a brief appearance from a supporting character from Marvel Television's Daredevil: Born Again.

Possible spoilers follow.

In the trailer, Wilson Fisk's assistant and political adviser, Sheila Rivera (Zabryna Guevara), is shown on TV presenting Spider-Man with the key to the city. Since we already know that BND takes place after the events of Born Again season 2, fans have taken this as a spoiler relating to Kingpin's tenure as Mayor of New York coming to an end - voluntarily or otherwise.

Whether this is how the second season of Born Again will play out obviously remains to be seen, but Guevara has now taken to Instagram to confirm - just in case there was any doubt - her involvement in the next solo Spider-Man movie.

Born Again star Vincent D'Onofrio (Fisk) was recently asked about this shot on Twitter, and his response was initially taken as confirmation that Rivera will indeed replace him as acting Mayor during season 2 of the Disney+ series. However, the actor would later clarify what he meant by his reply.

"Didn't confirm anything. If it's true I love it. When I replied, 'I love it', it was the first time I had seen anything about it. It remains to be the only [time] I have heard such a thing. If it's true I love it. I'm the last person to know anything about the future of our show or any other show, for that matter. I only know about the job at hand. That is the absolute truth."

In related news, Spider-Man: No Way Home star Andrew Garfield was asked about the Brand New Day trailer during a recent interview, and while he has watched it, he had the sound turned down.

"I haven't seen it yet with sound. I've seen it without sound, because I was in a makeup chair, and I didn't want to disturb everyone, but it looks cool, it was very, very cool."

Early rumors claimed that both Garfield and Tobey Maguire might return as their respective Spider-Men in Brand New Day, but if this was ever on the cards, plans clearly changed. Maguire is expected to appear in Avengers: Doomsday, however.

Following the record-breaking success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Spider-Man: Brand New Day begins a brand new chapter for Peter Parker and Spider-Man. Four years have passed since the events of No Way Home, and Peter is now an adult and living alone after erasing himself and the memories of him from those he loves. In a New York that no longer knows his name, he has devoted himself wholeheartedly to protecting his city as Spider-Man full-time.

But as the demands on him grow, he is put under increasing pressure. This triggers an unexpected physical change that threatens his existence, while a strange wave of crime emerges - and gives rise to one of the most dangerous threats he has ever faced.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and written by Chris McKenna & Erik Sommers. The film is produced by Kevin Feige, Amy Pascal, Avi Arad and Rachel O'Connor. The cast includes Tom Holland, Zendaya, Sadie, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando and Mark Ruffalo.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to hit theaters on July 31, 2026.

Even if it’s a minor character such as Sheila , it’s cool to get a connection like this imo…

Plus , I kinda liked Sheila in BA S1 and Zabryn Guevara is a good actress so I’m looking forward to her in season 2 & beyond!!.

P.S: this is her 3rd comic book project behind X-Men Days of Future Past & Gotham.

And this how the Disney+ shows need to function. Characters and plot points appearing as Easter eggs or sub-plots in the movies without them being mandatory to follow unless you are an MCU diehard. This gives the general audience sequences that do not matter to them if they didn't see the Disney+ shows but gives those who did conversations and context to follow.

@SonOfAGif - Exactly, it didn't make sense to make general theatre goer have to worry about whatever happened in episode x of y.

@Kadara - The films have never required that. The misnomer of 'homework' is self-imposed. None of the shows are mandatory.

@JackDeth - Are you sure ? What about Scarlett Witch, she was good in the movies, turned evil on the show, and all of a sudden evil in Dr Strange?? Did y forget about that one

@Kadara - No, I didn't. All the pertinent information was explained in 'MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS'
