Why Elle Fanning Should Be The Next Aunt May In The Next SPIDER-MAN Remake

With the recent trend of Spiderman needing a reboot every 7 years, it's no secret that we can expect a new Spiderman not too far off. But who should play the legendary role of Aunt May?

Well, a new Spider-Man is upon us. And coming with him, a new Aunt May. Over the past few years Aunt May has become drastically younger and younger and with the recent casting of Marisa Tomei, I have a feeling that Marvel can go younger.

I mean, if Marvel/Sony is going to completely ignore the point of the Aunt May character, we might as well stick with the trend am I right? So here's my idea.

Elle Fanning. Yeah, I'm sure you're going "whaaaa?" here. The point is, with Marvel continuing to cast younger actresses for Aunt May, Elle Fanning is the only logical successor in 2023's inevitable reboot.

With Marvel completely ignoring Aunt May being the burden to Peter Parker, casting an actress the same age as Peter will completely add a new dimension to the character. Instead of Peter having to worry if Aunt May dies, he will instead have to worry if his cousin May dies. Get me?

Also for a second thought, In the 2023 inevitable reboot, I'm thinking they make her Pete's 3rd cousin once removed. Just so we could also have a new love interest.

I know it's supposed to be funny, but I just think you're an idiot. It never even made sense that May was like 60 years older than Peter.

Yeah, I think the Aunt May/Peter dynamic is going to be even stronger now, after watching The Impossible and Holland's dynamic with Naomi Watts, I'm sure he can pull off something similar with Tomei, really looking forward to seeing that, and I hope they focus on "Parker Luck" and we see him and Aunt May struggling to make ends meet

True. I'm not sure how young or old they'll make Tomei look in the movie. But, I was thinking about fragile, more in the sense of money and her emotional state, because money is one of Parker's consistent problems, and her loss of her husband, Uncle Ben, and all of that stuff.... and with her being younger, I think she could make more sense to Peter, and that as an audience we could connect to a younger Aunt May/Parker dynamic more. The older Aunt May is great but at the same time since she's so old, she could really die anytime of old age, ha. But, imo, the older Aunt May works a lot better in the comics and the panels

I didn't like how Sally Field played Aunt May.... and she was younger, but I think that had a lot to do with how those movies were written, etc. I feel like there's a lot you can do with a younger Aunt May trying to take care of herself and Peter and stay afloat, I think that comes off better on screen than having her a lot older

I'm a big fan of Marissa Tomei, so I feel like she can make it work a lot better
