DC Studios recently released a second Supergirl trailer, and the movie's social media accounts have now shared a new behind-the-scenes featurette for the Woman of Tomorrow's first solo DCU outing.

Though a lot of the footage has carried over from the trailer, there are a few new BTS shots of Milly Alcock filming scenes as Kara in a couple of different locations. The video also features interviews with the House of the Dragon star, as well as Lobo actor Jason Momoa, director Craig Gillespie and DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn.

During a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Alcock was asked if she had encountered any backlash since her casting was announced.

“It definitely made me aware that simply existing as a woman in that space is something that people comment on,” she replied. “We have become very comfortable having this weird ownership of women’s bodies. I can’t really stop them. I can only be myself.”

Alcock was also asked if she had a response to legendary directors such as Martin Scorsese and Ridley Scott's dismissals of the superhero genre.

“I get it. They’ve been around for [frick]ing ever making phenomenal films,” she said. “Not every film is for everyone. The beauty of art is that you can be selective.”

"When an unexpected and ruthless enemy threatens, Kara Zor-El is forced, against her will, to team up with an unlikely companion. Together, they embark on an epic cosmic journey where revenge and justice are at stake – and where Kara must confront her origins to find her own path as a hero. Alcock is joined by Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham and Jason Momoa in key roles. Peter Safran and James Gunn are producing the film for DC Studios."

Supergirl Woman of Tomorrow will also star Eve Ridley as Ruthye Mary Knolle, David Krumholtz and Emily Beecham as Kara's parents, Zor-El and Alura, and Matthias Schoenaerts as the villainous Krem of the Yellow Hills.

Our new Girl of Steel will take flight on June 26, 2026.

Said Gunn when the project was first annonced: “In our series we see the difference between Superman who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from the time he was an infant, versus Supergirl who was raised on a rock, a chip off Krypton, and watched everyone around her die and be killed in terrible ways for the first 14 years of her life, and then came to Earth when she was a young girl. She’s much more hardcore, she’s not exactly the Supergirl we’re used to seeing.”

Cool , Milly looks great in the role and wouldn’t be surprised if she ends up being one of if not the highlight of this film honestly…

Anyway , the movie seems good thus excited to check it out!!.

“We have become very comfortable having this weird ownership of women’s bodies"

What the hell is this moron even talking about? No one cares about your body. We care about the fact that a good majority of female written characters in these spaces are horrifically written. Why do these hollywood loons always say stuff like this? How tone deaf can you be? Where's the media training? Shit like this automatically gives the film a bad look, even if it turns out to be good (It wont).

@Nonameforme - She couldn't be less right. I've literally never seen a single person that dislikes how women written characters are written in hollywood even mention their bodies. Such a nonsensical statement

@FireGunn - Maybe they say stuff like this because they suspect that some people are so bigoted that they just don't like to see women or non-whites in this space. And that sometimes those people aren't entirely honest about their problems with these kinds of actors because they don't want people to think of them as bigots.

@ObserverIO - What does that have anything to do with what I said? What does that have to do with "ownership of women's bodies"?

And of [frick]ing course Gunn is the first person to talk in that behind the scenes clip. Not Craig Gillespie, not Ana Nogueira. James Gunn. So much for the "He didn't direct or write this movie" cope. His hands are all over this dreck.

Oh, for [frick]’s sake… now we’re seeing the BTS, and it’s even [frick]ing clearer what they’re doing.

And people were [frick]ing doubting this?

Let’s actually clock what’s in front of you.

First, this isn’t your standard Supergirl.

Not clean.
Not bubbly.
Not “Superman-lite.”

She’s been through [frick]ing shit.

Gunn already told you, this version watched her world die for years before [frick]ing getting to Earth.

So yeah… she’s harder. Rougher. A bit [frick]ing unstable.

That’s not a flaw.

That’s the [frick]ing entire point.

And Milly Alcock gets it.

You can see it in the way she’s moving, the physicality, the edge in her delivery; this isn’t someone playing dress-up, she’s actually [frick]ing inhabiting the character.

Now add in what we’re seeing behind the scenes:

• Multiple locations
• Practical setups mixed with VFX
• Director, cast, and Gunn all aligned on tone
• Clear focus on character over gimmicks

That’s not a messy production.

That’s a [frick]ing film with direction.

And the funniest part?

All that [frick]ing early noise about “mixed reactions,” “too dark,” “not working”…

Now we’re seeing actual [frick]ing footage, and suddenly it’s:

“Oh… this might actually be good.”

No [frick]ing shit.

Because some of us understood from the start, this wasn’t meant to be [frick]ing safe.

This is [frick]ing Woman of Tomorrow.

Trauma.
Growth.
Identity.

Not bright colours and quips every [frick]ing five minutes.

And that little bit about [frick]ing backlash?

That says more about the audience than it does about the [frick]ing film.

She’s literally saying: I’m just going to be myself.

Good.

Because that’s exactly what this version of Kara [frick]ing needs.

Not approval.

Not softness.

Just truth.

And you can feel it now, this isn’t random, this isn’t patchwork…

This is part of something being built with [frick]ing intent.

Properly.

We’re building the DCU future.

Don’t [frick] with us.

#DCALLIANCE

For [frick]s Sake.

People wondering why Gunn is in this BTS?.

Oh idk , it’s maybe because he’s the face of DC Studios and leading it so of course he would be in these marketing assets like Feige used to be.

Some of Ya’ll will find any reason to hate on him , smh!!.

"We have become very comfortable having this weird ownership of women’s bodies. I can’t really stop them. I can only be myself.” Milly Alcock- net worth $2.5 million

Are we supposed to what she's talking about here about people having "ownership" over women's bodies?
This is not the Middle East or most of Africa. No one "owns" any woman's body here. Just a weird attempt at virtue signaling.

@Feralwookiee - Until you have people like NotMyDiagnosis commenting above about how her suit is "well Fitting". not to mention all the other comments since its casting announcement, about how she should look. Sure, it shouldn't be front and center instead of the movie itself, but it does exist.
FireGunn
FireGunn - 4/3/2026, 5:05 PM
@Patient2670 - What's wrong with saying her suit is well fitted? That's not even talking about her body. It's talking about the suit's fit which is a surprise considering Superman's suit was terribly fit
