SUPERGIRL is an action-adventure drama based on the DC Comics character Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist), Superman’s (Kal-El) cousin who, after 12 years of keeping her powers a secret on Earth, decides to finally embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be. Twelve-year-old Kara escaped the doomed planet Krypton with her parents’ help at the same time as the infant Kal-El. Protected and raised on Earth by her foster family, the Danvers, Kara grew up in the shadow of her foster sister, Alex (Chyler Leigh), and learned to conceal the phenomenal powers she shares with her famous cousin in order to keep her identity a secret. Years later at 24, Kara lives in National City assisting media mogul and fierce taskmaster Cat Grant (Golden Globe Award winner Calista Flockhart), who just hired the Daily Planet’s former photographer, James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks), as her new art director. However, Kara’s days of keeping her talents a secret are over when Hank Henshaw (David Harewood), head of a super-secret agency where her sister also works, enlists her to help them protect the citizens of National City from sinister threats. Though Kara will need to find a way to manage her newfound empowerment with her very human relationships, her heart soars as she takes to the skies as Supergirl to fight crime.

I want to like this show.
The pilot was okay, it didn't hook me or feel like Supergirl really, but it was some very mindless fun.
It's certainly no Flash.

The "Big Bad" for this show is sooooo meh. Hopefully quality is enough for me to be hooked...

They should swap the guy whose playing Jimmy Olsen with the guy whose playing Supergirl's bestfriend.

Also, not feeling Clarista Flockheart in this show. We really needed a more "Harrison Wells"-like boss.. very likeable from a distance but there's something off about him.

Also... since Supergirl is ADOPTED... they could have taken this opportunity to make her adopted family another race/ethnicity!!! Seriously! Could they have not found a mixed race family to adopt her? Maybe her sister could have been played by someone like: Meaghan Rath

Melissa Benoist is nicely cast as Supergirl,
It is a shame there's no crossover with Flash, I can imagine her and Barry being so cute together.

My problem is the supporting cast, her sister will probably end up biting it at some point, it's obvious, she's a secret agent? It's so ridiculous.

I love Calista Flockhart, but just like what @UpcomingDCCU said, she should be more like Harrison Wells, whereas Cat Grant just seems like a total one note character that will end up dating Maxwell Lord or something unknowingly in some ridiculous plot.

Mehcad is way too hot and charming for Jimmy.

The cast are generally fine.. that's never my major issues with these type of shows and I actually feel sorry for them having to work with sure dire material. Gotham was the same - all very good/great actors, lousy script, editing, tone all over the place.. just bad in pretty much every respect.

Jimmy sucks. I don't care that he's black, I just think he's a terrible actor. I also hated that .."my big blue friend" shit.

@RorMachine

Oh totally, they're all so bland and uninteresting as far as writing goes. I hope Cat is more likeable, Calista did some fantastic work on Brothers & Sisters and Chyler Leigh deserves so much better than playing second fiddle to Supergirl

How is it that my girlfriend who has dark brown hair can get her hair dyed blonde & you can't see any dark strands or roots but this Supergirl looks more brunette with highlights?
Marvel couldn't get Cap/Rogers hair blonde enough either & its soooo easy.

not hating, now . . . JUST observing, okay?

So Lex Luther HAS hair and Jimmy Olsen is bald.

There's doing feminism the right way and presenting it in a fresh and welcoming manner: Mad Max Fury Road

The there's doing feminism in a way where it's showcased like a feminist equality and or rom com lifetime film. That's supergirl.

@ CB&B:

So, then only way to do feminism "right" is to show it depicted in a post apocalyptic world, where the women are brutalized & used as chattel breeding, with limbs chopped off, as opposed to you women living in, you know.... the REAL world, trying to navigate thru various social obstacles?

Don't get me wrong, I don't always agree with post modern feminism, but statements like yours prove why there's a need for it.

And FTR, I loved MM:FR, but I'm also gonna love SG as well.

How about giving this show a chance. Sometimes it takes a few episodes for a show to find their groove. I saw the pilot and thought it was well done. Not as great as Arrow's or the Flash's but still really good. Enough to make me want to tune in each week.

@BlackStar25 Kind of hard to tell if the big bad is going good or not from the just seeing her in the last minute of the show(that is if you saw the pilot).

True but from what I saw from the pilot, the "big bad" is a new character created for the show meaning it isn't an existing villain which is disappointing considering who I thought it would be (General Zod). Basically...that reveal at the end did absolutely nothing for me.
