Unable to convince the ruling council of Krypton that their world will destroy itself soon, scientist Jor-El takes drastic measures to preserve the Kryptonian race: He sends his infant son Kal-El to Earth. There, gaining great powers under Earth's yellow sun, he will become a champion of truth and justice. Raised by the Kents, an elderly farm couple, Clark Kent learns that his abilities must be used for good. The adult Clark travels to Metropolis, where he becomes a mild-mannered reporter for the Daily Planet...and a caped wonder whose amazing feats stun the city: Superman! Meanwhile, Lex Luthor, the world's greatest criminal mind, is plotting the greatest real estate swindle of all time. Can't even the Man of Steel stop this nefarious scheme?

I will say anyone who does come in and hate this film should leave the site. There would be no comic book movies if it wasn't for this one being as great as it is. You can't be a comic book movie fan and hate this movie.

You don't impress how good Man of Steel is by slagging-off a classic. The 70's film is what it is - a film of that era. Of course film's age and some age better then others, but the original Superman was groundbreaking in many areas and the acting was good - it deserves some respect.

Who knows, as cutting-edge and amazing as Man of Steel appears today - it might appear cheesy in 30 or forty years time!.

Respect.

I'd like to see the idiot who made this video make a feature film, and these days it has become a lot easier to make movies due to improved technology and visual effects, I'd like to see the fool who made this video travel back in time to the 70's and try to make a decent movie!

Can someone tell me how do you guys rate movies? I never think "this movie is outdated" when watching Superman or Batman. I know the special effects aren't great because they were from years ago but that doesnt get a negative from me. It's stupid to judge a movie for being dated. This goes to anyone who hates on Donner's Superman, Burton's Batman, and Raimi's Spider-Man.

Also how is Empire Strikes Back dated and boring? You trolling bro.

I agree with the overall sentiment. I wasn't around back when this came out and didn't appreciate it the first time I saw it, but it's pretty much the foundation for all superhero films. Man of Steel was clearly influenced by it in some ways. In the trailers you can hear Jonathan Kent telling Clark that he was sent here "for a reason" which is very reminiscent of Donner's film.

It took someone 5 minutes to say "Nothing"? Seriously, Superman is a classic film. Not just in terms of comic book movies but in pop culture as a whole. Is there cheese? Sure, it was a family oriented film. Remember that it was released during the Silver Age of comics and even though Iron Man and Green Lantern & Green Arrow were covering heavier subject matter, like alcoholism and heroin addiction, Superman still had a bit of humor in his books.

Classic movie. But I agree it didn't age very well. Some stuff is too cheesy nowadays.

Star Wars is still awesome and perfect.

MOS = The Superman movie I waited for all my life.
