Man of Steel arrives in the cinema on June 14, but Warner Brothers is making a huge merchandising push for the film. Superman is one of the biggest iconic superheroes around along with Batman etc. Warner Brothers has a lot riding on the Man of Steel movie and will need another big franchise to keep bringing in the money. The demand for the Man of Steel merchandise is on par with the Dark Knight Rises, this caught the studio by surprise.
Warner Brothers Consumer Products told the industry trade:
"Superman will always be a pop culture icon, and the upcoming summer action adventure will continue to fuel excitement for this fan-favorite superhero across the globe."
Another reason Warner Brothers is hoping the Man of Steel movie will be successful is because the Justice League movie will only happen if Man of Steel is a success! With a new Ceo (Kevin Tsujihara) and the Justice League still just in the screenplay phase, it might be the best decision to wait on green lighting the Justice League film.
Thanks to The Avengers, Superhero teams are the hot thing right now. The Justice League could fit right in alongside The Avengers in terms of box office success if done right. But again if the Justice League movie is done wrong then it could lead to a colossal bomb(and joke) for Warner Brothers.
