Superman is an ALIEN.... i could care less if a Brit was cast as long as he's good and the story DOESN'T suck.

What everyone else is saying... Superman. Is. An. Alien. He just looks like us, that's why he was sent to Earth. Good god...

I could understand people getting mad if they cast someone who wasn't american for Captain America, but c'mon. It doesn't really matter with most characters as long as they can act the part.

Yes, superman may be an illegal alien, but he poses as an american, and his heart is certainly american. So long as Cavill doesn't try to portray supes w/ british values, whatever.

Good roles should belong to good actors.

All of you brits need to calm down. Yes hes an alien. Thats why he fights for Truth, Justice and the KRYPTONIAN Way! Wait...its AMERICAN WAY! THATS RIGHT! SUCK IT!

@Twilightmutant- There's this thing, it's called bullshit patriotism. The only character that can really get away with being all "America rules" is Captain America, and even then it's a little cheesey. Superman IS an alien, deal with it. In fact I guess that does make him an American then? Considering all of todays American's were all immigrants once anyway.

that blokes a f*cking dick,it makes perfect sense for superman to be a brit.

1st christopher reeve (brit best superman ever)

2nd dean cain (usa alright but i didn't really like lois & clark much)

3rd brandon routh (usa i liked him but lots of people think he sucked)

4th tom welling (usa he sucks he can't act, proper shite)

5th henry cavill (brit his a good actor it might work.)

it looks like the brits are the best men for the job.

No... I could care less about that, even though I like Superman. Because the best actor should get the part regardless of his country of origin.

It does not matter to me that the guy who plays superman is British. I do not care about that as long as he is talking with an American accent and can act. The thing what keeps ticking me off is people saying he is not Amercian he is an alien. He is both. He was born in Krypton but was raised in America. So he is Krptionian American. the creators who happened to be Canadians made the character as American as you can get. His creed customs and the way he was brought up is all American based. Its the same situation if an immigrant was a baby when he or she came to this country I guarantee they would say they were ????-american instead of just ???? lol

Once you look at all the casting kimmel mentions, then perhaps it is a big deal.

Superheroes are like american myths. We created them.

Wolverine is Austrailian? No wonder there's so much unemployment!!!
AC1
AC1 - 2/1/2011, 3:29 PM
Well Superman's from Krypton, and everyone on Krypton seems to have british accents, so it makes sense (although he has to have an american accent since he was raised in america)
Ummm... Superman wears Red, YELLOW and blue, not red white and blue...
vermillion
vermillion - 2/1/2011, 3:29 PM
Yeah, I'm kinda shocked people are making such a big deal about this. It really doesn't matter as long as he can do an american accent decent enough.

i honestly didnt know this was a concern with people...superman is america's favorite illegal immigrant, why does it matter if he is played by a british actor. as long as he isnt flying up to lex'x window and say "care to step outside you wanker" i'll live...then again that would be funny
