"For some, he was a guardian angel. For others, a ghost who never quite fit in." 75 years after the first appearance by the strongest man on earth, he returns on the big screen with man of steel.
Man of steel is a very different take on superman, one we haven't seen before. The story starts with the birth of baby kal-el,the first natural birth of krypton after centuries.unfortunately krypton has a very less time left so His parents, jor-el (russell crowe)and Lara Lor-Van( Ayelet Zurer)decide to send him to earth to protect their race. The military leader of krypton General ZOD (Michael Shannon) leads a coup against the useless leaders of krypton. The ship in which kal-el is sent to earth is found by Jonathan and Martha Kent (Kevin Costner and Diane Lane) who grow baby kal-el into a bright young Clark kent (Henry Cavill), a guardian angel. Until one day a spaceship shows up in the space threatening the earth to return its refuge...and the story continues...
This superman is not the one we know, he is not already mature, he is learning, still trying to control his powers, trying to find the reason he was sent here, trying to distinguish good from bad.
This movie was directed by zack snyder who does a wonderful job in portraying superman. This movie redefines superman(for good or bad). This is a wonderful story of a boy sent to earth, in an attempt to save his kind..the story does not lose you any second, good work by David S. Goyer overall.
The acting was top notch.. Henry cavill is perfect as superman and is the same as what Rdj is for iron man. Henry cavill is destined to play superman. Michael shannon plays a noteworthy villain in the form of zod, whose complex personality is perfectly portrayed. Russell crowe gets plenty of screen time and plays the role of jor-el perfectly, a special mention of Antje Traue, faora who capture her vulnerability and power cleverly.
This movie did have a downside. The middle 30 or so mins felt kind of rushed and the amy adams character is not fully developed. There is even some time when the movie is dragging and we are just waiting for the 3rd act to kick in.
The action sequences are epic and overall this movie is a perfect launch pad for the DCCU. I rate this movie 4.5 out of 5.
