Man Of Tomorrow: Here's When We Could See The First Trailer For James Gunn's Superman Sequel

Man of Tomorrow swoops into theaters next July, and a new rumour sheds some light on when we could get a first look at DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn's highly anticipated Superman sequel.

Man of Tomorrow is DC Studios' chance to bounce back after Supergirl's struggles earlier this summer. Opening a week after Shrek 5 and a couple of weeks before A Minecraft Movie Squared, it faces tough competition but could still become one of the summer's biggest blockbusters.

When will Warner Bros. Discovery start building excitement for James Gunn's next chapter in his Superman Saga? Well, based on new posts from trusted runtime and trailer leaker @Cryptic4KQual, Man of Tomorrow will follow Superman and Supergirl by dropping a teaser in December.

The insider expects December to be a huge month for trailers, and it sounds like we'll also get sneak peeks for Star Wars: Starfighter and Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse

Back to Man of Tomorrow, and a teaser close to the holidays makes sense. DC Studios will, however, need to be careful to ensure it isn't overshadowed by Avengers: Doomsday. That's what happened to Supergirl when that movie's teaser was largely forgotten thanks to the four MCU teasers attached to Avatar: Fire and Ash.

Shooting on Man of Tomorrow recently wrapped, with far fewer set photos than its predecessor. As a result, much of the movie has been successfully kept under wraps, including what the roster of the Justice Gang looks like now and the DCU's take on Brainiac.

With that in mind, there's a lot a teaser could reveal that would increase excitement for the movie. For now, Marvel Studios will be pulling out all the stops to build hype for Avengers: Doomsday.

Earlier this year, Gunn was asked what he could reveal about next year's Superman sequel, Man of Tomorrow"At its core, it’s about Clark and Lex. I relate to both of them. I relate to Lex’s ambition and obsession — minus the murder. And I relate to Superman’s belief in people, his Midwestern values. They’re two sides of me," he said, emphasising his personal connection to the movie's leads.

Addressing how he's balancing being a filmmaker with DC Studios' co-CEO, he added, "I don’t think it’s ever really been done. Even Walt Disney was more of a producer than a director. It’s an experiment. And yes, sometimes it probably sounds like madness — especially since I don’t make the most conventional films. But I love big spectacle. That’s my jam. I originally said no to the job."

"I didn’t want to do what Kevin Feige does. But once Peter and I realized we’d be doing it together, it became exciting," Gunn noted. "I still don’t know if it’s sustainable long-term. It’s a lot. There just aren’t enough hours in the day."

In Man of Tomorrow, Superman will be forced to team up with Lex Luthor to battle Brainiac, a threat not just to Metropolis but to the entire world.

Written and directed by James Gunn, the movie stars include David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Lars Eidinger as Brainiac, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag, Sr., Aaron Pierre as John Stewart, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, and Milly Alcock as Supergirl.

Andre Royo, Matthew Lillard, Sinqua Walls, and Adria Arjona will also star. However, as we mentioned above, we still don't know whether the latter is playing Maxima or Wonder Woman. There's also speculation that Eva De Dominici is playing one of the characters, and there's always a chance the Diana Prince rumblings don't pan out. We'll have to wait and see.

Man of Tomorrow arrives in theaters on July 9, 2027.

I think it would be smart not to release it at the exact obvious times other trailers will do the rounds. I’d say Teaser in November. Trailer after doomsday in late Dec/ Jan.

Sweet , a December release for the teaser makes sense since MOT doesn’t come out until July 2027 so 6-7 months is more then enough to start the marketing of the film.

Plus , there’s not many big films coming out until Doomsday & Dune 3 in December for the teasers for this & other films like Starfighter and Beyond the Spiderverse to be attached to (maybe Hunger Games in late November but that’s it).

Anyway , looking forward to it and the movie itself since I thought Superman was solid!!.

They’ll want to attach it to Dune 3. However, I think they should wait until January, hell even February to let everyone get over the hype of Doomsday.
