Set to be produced by Christopher Nolan, writer and director of the highly praised Dark Knight Trilogy, and director Zack Snyder (Watchmen, 300), Man Of Steel, reboot of the 1978 blockbuster, Superman: The Movie (or simply Superman) and set for a release date of June 14, 2013, has now been given an official website, as well as a new synopsis. The film is rumoured to establish an entire universe of DC Comics based films, leading up to the announced Justice League crossover film. This had been previously done by DC Entertainment's rivals, Marvel Studios, and, before that, DC themselves in their animated universe, involving shows such as Batman: The Animated Series, Superman: The Animated Series and Justice League: Unlimited, only without leading up to any particular event.

The Official Site includes a teaser image of Superman, a link to the films Facebook and Twitter pages, the synopsis, and the trailer. Note that you have to click the link to the trailer on the site to get to the synopsis.

Synopsis: Next summer, "Man Of Steel" is coming to the big screen. The film is from director Zack Snyder and producers Charles Roven, Christopher Nolan, Emma Thomas and Deborah Snyder. The screenplay was written by David S. Goyer from a story by Goyer & Nolan, based upon Superman characters created by Jerry Siegel & Joe Shuster and and published by DC Comics.

I for one won't be watching this in theaters, though I'll probably still be curious as hell. I'll wait until it's at a redbox, or until it's on cable, or until someone else i know buys it and I can borrow it for a night. It's probably going to be a very good movie, but no matter how good or bad you think Superman Returns was, it still sucks how Warner Bros. treated Brandon Routh about this.

Maybe someday Routh will be able to appear as Samaritan in an Astro City film, or as the adult hero in Mark Millar's Superior. That would do the issue justice. Until then, I'm not payin' to see a Superman movie.

Hey, for all of you people saying its not a synopsis, with all due respect, it said "Synopsis" on the website. True it doesn't reveal ANYTHING about the plot (that sucks for me, as well) but I didn't write it. Warner Brothers did. And while writing the article, I double checked, proof read and everything. I didn't leave any thing out. I had the site and the page I was writing this article on side by side while double checking. Hopefully they'll release a better synopsis than this.

He got to write it first. Wow people chill. It still a year away and their not even done with the movie yet. From what i hearing Snyder still in post production and Zimmer has not even started the music yet.

Yes it's not telling us anything, but least we have a trailer, just speculate from that, Lol...

Also since Nolan is attached to the project, I know critics are going to compare this to his Batman depiction in someway. I hope this Superman movie or series does great like Batman because honestly Marvel has more better superhero movies than DC, and I like DC heroes more. I think Batman was the start of DC coming back and now here's the Man Of Steel. We're going to look over Green Lantern (cough) Haha. No Green Lantern was a decent movie, but I don't think people will talk about it like the rest of the superhero films.

Now about this Justice League business... Of course everyone wants to see it, but Superman needs to do well, along with Wonder Woman, The Flash, and maybe a Green Lantern reboot or a part 2 that's a whole lot better than the first. The only thing I'm lost about is if they do a Justice League movie for our generation, how are they going to bring back Batman. Cause honestly I don't see a reboot happening until after Justice League has been released. So I think they should just do a continuation with JGL, he does 2 films and then Christian Bale returns in The Dark Knight Returns and a year after The Dark Knight Returns then a Justice League movie. Just a few thoughts...
