Superman: Man of Steel. How to teach an old dog new tricks.....

An almost "dead" franchise can go with any names. Ghostbusters, Gremlins, Supergirl, etc. But how can Man of Steel be different and seem new? Click the article for an overview of these and other discussions....

Hi comicbookfans out there!! Sorry I haven't been uploading any news or info as of late. I've been too busy working on my own film projects and going to a load of hockey games in spare time. But now that I'm back, I have found much news on the Superman reboot being uploaded to this site.

Well now the cast seems to be shaping up we have Henry Cavill playing the man of tomorrow, along with Amy Adams as the illustrious and wonderful Lois Lane. Wait a second....Amy Adams?! Why is Amy Adams playing a character beloved by many? I have a feeling she will play this one off like her character in Enchanted. I've given people chances but I just can't quite picture her in the role of Daily Planet news reporter Lois Lane. But at least it isn't Lindsey Lohan. (wait a second?)

And of course the wonderful adoptive parents of the young hero, Jonathan and Martha Kent, being played by Kevin Costner and Diane Lane. Can you say MILF? I imagine a scene where Clark is being teased by classmates about his mother being a milf, and Clark charging at them, discovering his powers for the first time. But sadly, this is not the Kevin Smith superman movie. But I am pleased to see those two in the role.

The next confirmed is Michael Shannon. Kneel before Zod!! I am pleased by this choice. Not only the choice of actor, but the choice of villain. At times Lex Luthor gets old, and Supes will need a real challenge. I'm praying this is the reality finally that Supes will throw a punch or two. That is the confirmed cast so far, and I am mostly happy with these choices. All except for Amy Adams. She does not seem the type for this type of film.

Another item to bring up: How can we make this fresh? After five Supes films, I do believe it is time for the reboot. But I do not wish for them to change every single little detail, for one I hear about clark being in West Africa and starting his career there, that doesn't seem right. I haven't felt this stressed since Schumacher put nips on Batman. There are many ways to make this franchise fresh. For one, bring in Star Labs and introduce those allies to the universe. Show when Clark first discovers his powers and his destiny, though after Smallville this seems not very useful. One thing I would like to keep in there is the Fortress of Solitude. That to me is what kept Kal-El akin to his roots. However, maybe perhaps feature a new design.

Thirdly, do NOT ruin the suit!! The suit is what defines the character in the film and from some rumored designs I have seen, he will have a supergirl cape. That is the part I am very triggered about. It will be sad to go to the film, and not hear the classic John Williams theme playing, as that is how I recognized Superman. My childhood theme song was that song. So I'm hoping they can create something that will do that for another little boy out there, leaping off the back of his couch with a towel around his neck and shoulders making flying noises.

So now I sit here and wait Mr. Snyder, I sit here and wait to see what you can deliver as the next most identifiable Superman film, and make us believe that once again, A Man can Fly......

Thank you to you out there reading this article, I promise to upload more of my rants here soon, but the Stanley Cup playoffs call to me.
Peace in the Middle East and to Truth, Justice, and the American Way, I bid adieu.

I doubt Amy Adams will come off as the princess from Enchanted, seeing her in The Fighter, she can play a pretty tough chick. The age thing with her is my only worry, but I'm sure she'll do fine. The Birthright synopsis isn't official yet, just because it keeps hanging around that doesn't mean it's confirmed. I do agree with a good portion of your article though.

I think we all want to see a good Superman film this time around. Here are very simple 1,2,3 ways to do it:

1. Keep Clark "Down to Earth". Make him believable.
2. Gives us a good story, not just for the action and explosions but also something we can all relate to in the 21st century.

3. The keeper on the list: DON'T MESS WITH THE SUIT!!
