James Gunn's SUPERMAN is mere weeks away, and according to The Wrap's sources, SUPERMAN has passed $10 million in pre-sale tickets, which is far more than THE BATMAN's $7.5 million pre-sale count at the same point in time. THE BATMAN went on to make $12.5 million in pre-sale tickets, which means SUPERMAN could easily finish with $17–19 million in pre-sales before the movie is released. Warner Bros. is expecting a huge influx of people purchasing tickets due to the new Superman tour, which has just started in the Philippines.
While Deadline expects SUPERMAN to open between $95–125 million, other analysts, including PRG and Hollywood Reporter, expect SUPERMAN to open above $135 million, which would make SUPERMAN the highest opening for a Superman solo movie, easily surpassing Zack Snyder's MAN OF STEEL, which opened to $116 million in June 2013.
SUPERMAN's tracking doesn't include its Amazon-exclusive viewings, which would put SUPERMAN in the higher echelon, perhaps already eclipsing $13 million in pre-sales, especially with the sources saying that SUPERMAN is outgrossing CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD by 2.7x, FANTASTIC FOUR: FIRST STEPS by 1.7x, and THE BATMAN by 0.75x.
This is a great start for the Man of Steel and the DC franchise as a whole. If anything, we could potentially see the highest-grossing SUPERMAN film happen this year, finally eclipsing the $662 million that MAN OF STEEL underwhelmingly finished with back in 2013.
Superman must reconcile his alien Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as reporter Clark Kent. As the embodiment of truth, justice, and the human way, he soon finds himself in a world that views these as old-fashioned.
The film releases on July 11, 2025 (with special previews starting July 9, 2025)
