Routh is the current reeves Hellmont, so basically your saying death to Reeves as well. both are excellent. Routh will do great things as superman once they introduce a brute of a baddy to fight

Reeve is Superman, Routh just needs a better villian and a greater challenge for his Superman to face. Like I've said before Routh like Reeve embodies what Superman should be and will be the hero this generation needs.

Yah,

I see now Brandon needs to push himself in the role. I just hope the writing gets him some juice moments or he can improvise.

routh was a great superman. he cant be blame for the failure of superman returns. that movie sucked because of horrible writing and equally bad directing.

@InFamous:
Don't get me wrong. I agree with you. I just want to see more of Routh's heart put in the role. I like him in the role. Everyone else could be replaced for me.

There's no competition. Reeves is the one and only true Superman. Since Reeves has past on, may he rest in peace, Routh can pick up the cape but he's still not Superman. I would like that they get someone better. He wasnt too bad but he wasnt memorable either imho.

Routh is a no-talent, dry toast, Reeve-look-alike(Not necessarily a Superman-look-alike...). I hope they abandon him and find a guy that looks like Superman and that can act. I hated him as Superman.

KIR, you're being too kind.

Christopher Reeve will always be Superman, no matter who comes after.
Phinehas
Phinehas - 6/18/2009, 9:16 PM
No. I think they can find somebody that transcends Reeves. But not someone that can transcend the Superman character. Routh was a horrible choice. Fans were so hard up for Superman, they had accepted low quality from a talentless hack. Its like falling in love with a whore!

Singer was the Kryptonite

Daniel Craig as Metallo A good secondary villian ?? or Christopher Eccleston as Zod.

Singer was the disease and Routh was the pus resulting from the sore called, Superman Returns!

Its whiplash. Reeves will forever be Superman. Sadly he won't be playing him again. I think Routh does a good job for this next gen of Superman.

I hope they keep Routh to be honest. He did a great job when he was always going to be compared to Reeves. I think if he stays the course he could be seen for the excellent Superman he is.

GET ZACK SNYDER, SUPERMAN VS DOOMSDAY..KEEP ROUTH, FIX THE SUIT ALLITTLE BIT, GET ROUTH TO ACT OVER THE TOP NERDY LIKE REEVES DID WITH THE SLICKED BACK HAIR, AND DONT PUT SO MUCH SOAP OPRA STUFF IN THERE, WHAT WAS THAT ALL ABOUT SINGER? GEEZ..GIVE IT TO A GUY THAT MAKES GRAPHIC NOVEL TO MOVIES, IT SHOWS HE PAYS ATTENTION TO EXTREME DETAIL..SURE WATCHMEN DIDNT HAVE THE SQUID, BUT HEY HE DID GET MOST THINGS RIGHT..
ThunderCougarFalconBird
ThunderCougarFalconBird - 6/19/2009, 6:14 AM
teabag - I agree but in his defense Routh was told to play it like Reeves because it was a continuation of the saga. It just added to the up-hill battle he faced, not only did he have to live up to Reeves, he had to copy him! He would be better if they started fresh. Not saying another reboot from origins but to say "this film stands alone, it doesn't follow on, it's it's own thing". And then like you say let him let loose and become himself, his own vision of Superman.
KryptonianRage
KryptonianRage - 6/19/2009, 7:16 AM
We already believed "That a Man Can Fly" With Reeves, what the next Superman movie needs is to make us believe that a KRYPTONIAN CAN KICK SOME @$$!!!!

Do something that hasn't been done, I would LOVE to see Superman go toe-to-toe with Darkseid!! That alone would make for a kick @$$ movie, look at the final battle between Superman and Darkseid in the series finale of "Justice league Unlimited", I want to see a live action version of that, Superman in a fight where he doesn't have to hold his punches!
LEEE777
LEEE777 - 6/19/2009, 7:28 AM
DARKSEID maybe can be involved with the DOOMSDAY story!!! ; )

Its many years now from RETURNS, ROUTH should be much better as SUPERMAN! Cant wait to see DYLAN DOG!
KryptonianRage
KryptonianRage - 6/19/2009, 7:40 AM
No, I think we really need to keep it with one MAJOR villian, if they try to squeeze too many villians into the story we're going to end up with the Superman version of "Batman & Robin" or "Spider-Man 3"...and nobody wants that!
LEEE777
LEEE777 - 6/19/2009, 7:49 AM
Lmao teabag @ God, i knew putting DOOMIE on the small screen was a bad idea from the start! I never ever wanted him in SMALLVILLE!

KrytonianRage @ I mean't DARKSEID as the brains behind DOOMSDAY, like in the background! But hey DARKSEID or not, DOOMSDAY needs rthe Big Screen!!!; )
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 6/19/2009, 8:01 AM
Singer was too influenced by Donners movies, thats obvious. But from his point of view, he was beggining a new franchise too. So he was a little light on the action and a bit too touchy feely, big deal! It was the first installment. I still thought that for what it was it was a great movie and Routh was a great Supes. I think if he got another crack at it he would give the fans what they wanted to see

Uh... is it just me or was the whole trailer's highlight Hackman and Spacey??? LOL :P

And this little debate has motivated me to write an editorial... now, if i can only rememer how to write... like riding a bike my ass!!! :P

ThunderCougarFalconBird
ThunderCougarFalconBird - 6/19/2009, 9:24 AM
Shaman - ever tried riding a bike after several years not doing it? I have! It's [frick]ing near impossible! Damn that driving license!

LEEE777 - I like the thinking! Doomsday could be Darkseids dog let off the chain to break Earths will before he takes over. It could be a two parter or even a trilogy. Epic battle with Supes and Doomsday (who seems to be attacking randomly but is actually placed quite strategically), Superman wins but there's an odd feeling that there's something more to come...
LEEE777
LEEE777 - 6/19/2009, 9:57 AM
Ahhhhhh teabag/SHAMAN @ Bwahahahahhaha!!!

Yep ROR @ Your right!

Howlett @ That would be sweet wouldn't it yeah!!! ; )
Shaman
Shaman - 6/19/2009, 10:43 AM
Howlett04- You know, it could very well be damn near impossible.

Oh and if Doomsday's Darkseid's dog, and Superman wins, why not have Darkseid have Doomsday that would do exactly what you said he would, but Doomsday could actually be used as the villain against who Superman doesn't win. You know, the "draw" thingamagiggy that they invented Doomsday for. I'd dig that! Then Darkseid comes to take over thinking that Sups is dead and then BOOM, resurection.
ThunderCougarFalconBird
ThunderCougarFalconBird - 6/19/2009, 11:38 AM
Shaman - Yeah thats sort of what I was getting at. When I say "dog" I don't mean "pet" I getting at the fact Doomsday is a killing machine with a one track mind. And while Darkseid can match almost anyone in combat he'd rather pull strings and play a tactical game.

Send Doomsday to Earth, maybe Darkseid has heard rumours of Superman and wants to send in the pawn to find out for sure, or he just wants Doomsday to show Earths defenses a glimpse of his supremacy. An epic battle (but with no touching of the hair or face) takes place and like the animated film they (appear to) kill each other. Darkseid strolls into the wake and takes control of a heartbroken planet. And then (to quote you)BOOM, resurrection!
Shaman
Shaman - 6/19/2009, 11:47 AM
That's perfection on Ron Burgundy levels.

So much to do with superman..so many villians..and with todays special effects nothing is imposible.

For some reason, i don't want to see superman fight Dooms Day. For me its just a sensless fight of action. I like fights that are spawned from the Arch Villian having a dasterdly plan of evil/control/destruction/genicide/ etc...

All I know is that Doomsday wants to kill superman.

That in itself will kill the franchise. It would be look at as a Michael Bay All action, no substance movie.

Id rather see Gen. Zod freed from the neutral zone and try to turn earth into a version of Krypton, or just take over it and geneticaly create a new race of super humans...something deeper than just killing superman.

I can almost see why Smallville added Davis persona to Doomsday and the whole Chloe angle...to creat a more 3D background vs. the 2D story of just killing.

This is just my angle. Action is great, but action with purpose is even better.

So:
Gen. Zod along with Metallo as his hinchman, and maybe Brainiac or someone.
