Paramount Pictures and Marvel Entertainment present the epic adventure, "Thor," which spans the Marvel Universe from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is the mighty Thor (Chris Hemsworth), a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth by his father Odin (Anthony Hopkins) and is forced to live among humans. A beautiful, young scientist, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), has a profound effect on Thor, as she ultimately becomes his first love. It’s while here on Earth that Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.

This movie was epic, it was another Marvel Masterpiece, it stayed so faithful to the books and it was a great story leading up to the Avengers. The dialouge was great, the acting was pitch perfect, Hawkeye's cameo was stellar, I will buy it on DVD, it is a GREAT film. This movie was epic, ANOTHER!

I thought Thor had better dramatic tension for the most part than Iron Man and in places it was "more fun/funnier" than Iron Man 2. But I dont think it can be considered a "masterpiece" unless your talking relative to other Marvel work/comic book movies in general.

Oh and in the "real world" im yet to hear anything good about the 3D. In the end I only saw it in 2D because the balance between how good id heard the 3D was vs the extra cost (which im not usually bothered about) and the darkness put me off. Though its a shame it wasnt digitally projected 2D as recently that seems to look (to me) better than the 35mm stuff ive seen. Though I dont want to start some kind of format war. =]

@SuspenseSmith I get what you mean on the 3D I assumed it would be like that but had just heard it messed things up abit in places, being so dark.

And i get what you mean on the IMAX aswell, tho are you talking proper big screen imax or like liemax stuff they have been showing in american multiplexes? Ive seen The Dark Knight and Transformers 2 at the imax in london and they were incredible but mainly because of the 70mm scenes, tho the sound blew my mind (nearly literally) lol. I also saw the batman all nighter they did so I saw the imaxed batman begins with upgraded sound and that was great aswell.

Another one of the reasons im looking forward to the TDKR is because of the 2D imax stuff, should be amazing.

This may sound like a stupid question, but does anyone know if Odin will be in the avengers? Because i'm assuming Thor will have to get to earth from there, and I was just wondering.
