The Tracking Board is reporting that Paramount is currently in negotiations with Rachel Crow to join the cast of their upcoming Transformers Universe spinoff Bumblebee. Further details on her role weren't provided, but her part is being described as a key player.
If her deal closes, she'll join Academy Award nominee Hailee Steinfeld (Pitch Perfect 3) and Jorge Lendeborg Jr. (Spider-Man: Homecoming), who are playing the two human leads.
Travis Knight (Kubo and the Two Strings) is helming the feature with a script from Christina Hodson (Unforgettable). Production is expected to kick off later this summer.
Plot details are being kept mostly under wraps, but we do know that the spinoff will serve as a prequel set in an earlier decade, possibly the 1980s, and chronicle the fan-favorite Autobot's adventures before he met Sam Witwicky in 2007.
The 19-year-old Crow is probably best known as a finalist on the first season of The X Factor. She recently made her live-action film debut in Netflix's Deidra & Laney Rob a Train, which premiered at Sundance, and, after receiving rave reviews for her performance, landed a starring role in ABC's spinoff of The Goldbergs.
