BUMBLEBEE Sequel Will Reportedly Include "A Little More Bayhem" According To Producer

Bumblebee was a critical hit, but didn't take off at the box office in the same way as past instalments. Now, it seems the plan to counter that is to add a little more of Michael Bay's trademark "Bayhem."

Bumblebee has a glowing score of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes but with a modest $459 million haul at the worldwide box office, you just know Paramount Pictures is wondering what went wrong and why the Transformers spinoff didn't reach the same $1 billion heights as Aquaman (also released in December).

Well, it appears as if the solution to that is to attempt to find a combination of the heart and focus on storytelling found in Bumblebee, and the busy action scenes in Michael Bay's movies.

"I know the next Transformer, our attempt anyway, is to sort of do a fusion of Bumblebee and the Bay movies," producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura revealed in a recent interview. "A little more Bayhem. And a little bit more of the character falling in love within the emotional dynamic of the movie."

"One of the things I want to do—and I hope we pull it off—is, we did it with Bumblebee because he’s so cute and he’s so accessible, but he can’t talk. I think the more human we can make these characters, the more people are going to like them."

The producer went on to confirm that the sequel will revolve around Optimus Prime and Bumblebee, so it now seems like we're returning to regular Transformers movies rather than a standalone adventure like Bumblebee which wasn't packed full of Autobots battling Decepticons with the story taking a backseat. Needless to say, this is bound to disappoint some fans.

Then again, this might just be the right combination for box office success. Time will tell.

I feel like this is the opposite of what people want from a Bumblebee sequel. Didn't everyone love that it DIDN'T feel like Michael Bay?!

@DalekCraigWasson - but it didnt make Bay money. Sometimes, audiences just suck.

@L0RDbuckethead - Having Bayhem does not mean it will be like lets say The Last Knight, or that it will be an acton film without story or characters

I haven't even seen Bumblebee yet.

This is literally a complete 180 from what they were saying at the end of December. I don't care about this franchise anymore, and haven't even seen Bumblebee yet though I hear its good, but it seems like they are doing the opposite of what fans want.

And instead of letting Bumblebee serve as a franchise soft reboot, as was mentioned at the end of 2018, it now sounds like they are trying to connect Bumblebee with the original Bay films both creatively and tonally. And then there's that news about a sequel to Last Knight.

Geez Transformers franchise, get your act together!!

@HeavyMetal4Life - Its not a 180, its not like he's saying we will do the same thing they did in the prvious 5 film, if they have a good script with good characters, everything will be fine.

That is the issue with the previous films, its not the Bayhem, its the lack fo story or character development

Bumblebee should have been a complete reboot. Screw the Bay films and just start over with the glorious G1 designs.

I honestly laughed out loud, the producer really referred to it as Bayhem!

This is the equivalent of how we see DC movies finally getting on the right track again but then they announce a Trench movie.

Wonder if Travis Knight is gonna direct it?

I don't mind Beyhem. If anything that was the least of my problems with the Transformers movies. It was everything else in between, and how the Transformers looked. If Travis Knight is still on board, his version of Beyhem might not be so bad because he's shown that he understand big robot action.

@PantherKing - Adding some Bayhem does not mean the film will suck. As long they make a good story with good characters, everything will be alright.

Look the bayhem in the previous films is not the issue, the issue is that Bay didnt made a film that had a great story and great characters the audience loved
