With just over a month to go before Transformers: Rise of the Beasts arrives in theaters, Paramount Pictures has released the first clip from the movie (via SFFGazette.com) that sees the Maximals make their presence felt in live-action for the first time.
The Autobots are on hand to stop them from harming their human allies, and that leads to a tense standoff between Optimus Prime and Optimus Primal.
Buzz surrounding the movie has skewed on the negative side in recent weeks following reports of it being a "mess," and excitement even among Transformers fans seems relatively muted. That may be because the franchise appears to be once again embracing Michael Bay's vision, something that's evident from the humour and behaviour of the human characters in this latest sneak peek.
Take a look at this clip from Transformers: Rise of the Beasts in the Tweet below:
"Returning to the action and spectacle that have captured moviegoers around the world," reads the synopsis, "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will take audiences on a '90s globetrotting adventure with the Autobots and introduce a whole new breed of Transformer – the Maximals – to the existing battle on earth between Autobots and Decepticons."
The cast is led by Hamilton star Anthony Ramos, with Dominique Fishback, Luna Lauren Vélez, and Tobe Nwigwe joining him. Peter Cullen will once again lend his voice to Optimus Prime, while Ron Perlman has stepped in to play Optimus Primal, the leader of the Maximals.
Peter Dinklage, Liza Koshy, John DiMaggio, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, Pete Davidson, and Cristo Fernández also star.
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is set to be released in U.S. theatres on June 9, but arrives in the UK slightly earlier on June 8.
