TRANSFORMERS: RISE OF THE BEASTS Will Be One Of The Franchise's Shortest Movies Based On New Runtime

The runtime for Transformers: Rise of the Beasts has been revealed, and it's going to be among the shortest instalments of the franchise to date! You can find out what it clocks in as after the jump...

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is now less than a month away from arriving in theaters, and with tickets finally going on sale earlier today, there's every chance we'll get at least one more trailer before June 9 rolls around.

Serving as a loose sequel to Bumblebee and a prequel to the events of Michael Bay's divisive movies, the hope is that the first live-action meeting between the Autobots and Maximals will deliver a much-needed fresh start for the franchise. However, despite the epic action promised in previous sneak peeks, we won't be spending a huge amount of time with Optimus Prime and company.

According to Collider (via SFFGazette.com), Transformers: Rise of the Beasts boasts a mere 117-minute runtime (that's 1 hour and 57 minutes, not including the credits).

Still, despite the surprisingly scant runtime, this latest instalment isn't the franchise's shortest movie. That honour goes to Bumblebee, a spin-off that ran for just 114 minutes with the credits.

This is a departure from Bay's movies which got increasingly longer as they went; Transformers: Age of Extinction, for example, clocked in at 165 minutes! Still, we saw from last year's MCU movies that a runtime of less than 2 hours often means blockbusters will struggle to do the story surrounding all the action justice. We'll see.

"Returning to the action and spectacle that have captured moviegoers around the world," reads the synopsis, "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will take audiences on a '90s globetrotting adventure with the Autobots and introduce a whole new breed of Transformer – the Maximals – to the existing battle on earth between Autobots and Decepticons."

The cast is led by Hamilton star Anthony Ramos, with Dominique Fishback, Luna Lauren Vélez, and Tobe Nwigwe joining him. Peter Cullen will once again lend his voice to Optimus Prime, while Ron Perlman has stepped in to play Optimus Primal, the leader of the Maximals.

Peter Dinklage, Liza Koshy, John DiMaggio, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, Pete Davidson, and Cristo Fernández also star.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is set to be released in U.S. theatres on June 9, but arrives in the UK slightly earlier on June 8.

It's probably a good thing. The last few Michael Bay Transformers movies were too long and far too boring. I never thought that watching giant robots fighting each other on screen for almost three hours could be boring but Bay went a bit too far with it. Keep them sharp and to the point like Bumblebee was and we'll have a winner.

I heard rumors that the editing room for this has been an absolute nightmare, so makes sense they’d go to the shortest runtime to maximize screenings.

Shame, I liked Bumblebee a lot

if this fails, they should just give the live action series a break and come back after a while with a proper reboot, ditching the bay design style completely.

Focus on this upcoming animated movie and maybe add onto that.

could do proper beast war

could pull from different eras to get the best of everything

thats why my favorite transformers series did

That's perfect. Bays films were always ridiculously overlong.

Age of Extinction was 2 hours 45 minutes(!!!!)

So many movies nowadays are long for the sake of being long.

That isn't too surprising, despite the fact the movie looks busy.

With the scope of the movie I expect it to be atleast two hours without credits. Hope it isn't like Justice League or Multiverse of Madness though. Both could've used more runtime

I’m really excited for this! I LOVED all the previous Transformer films / Bumblebee, although, I would prefer a slightly longer length (sans credits) of 2hrs 10-15 minutes. Still, I am excited! Will likely buy Imax tickets for the TCL Chinese Theatre!🤠

OT: seeing this article took me back to the 80s and for some reason Voltron pop into my head Why has that not been turned into a live action movie?I did hear years back they were trying to do it but I guess it never got off the ground.I mean I can not be the only one that would love to see that if done right.
