Prime Video has finally shared the official trailer and poster for their upcoming spy thriller series Citadel, which stars Richard Madden (EternalsGame of Thrones) and Priyanka Chopra (Don - The Chase Begins Again; Don 2) in the lead roles.

The plot revolves around the independent global spy agency Citadel and two of their top operatives - Mason Kane (Madden) and Nadia Sinh (Chopra) - who had their memories wiped following the organization's defeat at the hands of the syndicate Manticore.

The pair live without any knowledge of their past for eight years, but find themselves dragged back into the thick of the action when an old ally resurfaces, needing their help to stop Manticore's latest plot, which threatens the world at large. As Kane and Sinh embark on the globe-trotting mission of a lifetime, they must contend with resurfaced old memories, secrets, and love that alter the fate of humanity.

The series hails from Avengers: Endgame directors Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, who serve as executive producers and also directed a few episodes, with Hunters creator David Weil onboard as showrunner.

In addition to Madden and Chopra, the supporting cast consists of Stanley Tucci as Bernard Orlick, Lesley Manville as Dahlia Archer, Osy Ikhile as Carter Spence, Ashleigh Cummings as Abby Conroy, Roland Møller as Anders Silje and Davik Silje, and Caoilinn Springall as Hendrix Conroy.

Due to expensive reshoots last Fall, the series is considered to be the second-most expensive series ever produced, with a production budget exceeding $250 million for six episodes. Despite that, Prime Video seems to be extremely bullish on its franchise prospects, and has already started production on spinoffs set in India and Italy, with the former set to star Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu.

Citadel starts streaming on April 28.

Check out the official trailer and poster below:

Eight years ago, Citadel fell. The independent global spy agency—tasked to uphold the safety and security of all people—was destroyed by operatives of Manticore, a powerful syndicate manipulating the world from the shadows. With Citadel’s fall, elite agents Mason Kane (Richard Madden) and Nadia Sinh (Priyanka Chopra Jonas) had their memories wiped as they narrowly escaped with their lives. They’ve remained hidden ever since, building new lives under new identities, unaware of their pasts.

Until one night, when Mason is tracked down by his former Citadel colleague, Bernard Orlick (Stanley Tucci), who desperately needs his help to prevent Manticore from establishing a new world order. Mason seeks out his former partner, Nadia, and the two spies embark on a mission that takes them around the world in an effort to stop Manticore, all while contending with a relationship built on secrets, lies, and a dangerous-yet-undying love.

I’m been pretty disappointed by the Russo’s stuff post Endgame so I’m really hoping for a win for them here, because there stuff from the MCU is fantastic and they are talented filmmakers that just need to find a new rhythm.

Slightly delayed? I thought this was already supposed to be released a year ago.

Anyway, I'll give it a try. The Russos, Richard Madden starring as a safety and security guy in a six episode show (do yourself a favor and watch Bodyguard), and a budget like that is enough to convince.

OT: And speaking of Citadels, I finally finished the Mass Effect trilogy today. That was truly an incredible 70 hour journey.

Tangential:

Richard Madden just made me think of Brightburn, watched it last night. Pretty good, honestly I can’t stop thinking about it. I’m gonna marry it. Our wedding will be on Tubi, just like the movie.

When I saw this trailer earlier I thought it was for a movie and kept thinking, something is missing, it's not going to work. But as a series....I'm intrigued. This could be good.
