Well, it looks like we can close the door on a potential third Jack Reacher movie as multiple sources are now reporting that Amazon Prime Video has won the rights to develop a television series based on the titular hero from Lee Child's hit crime/thriller novels.

Nick Santora, who created the CBS action/drama series </SCORPION>, has been tapped as showrunner. He'll also write and executive produce the series. Lee Child, Don Granger and Christopher McQuarrie will also serve as executive producers alongside Skydance's David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Marcy Ross; and Amazon's Carolyn Harris.

The novel series, which has published twenty-three books since 1997, has sold over 100 million copies to date and was most recently adapted into a pair of hit films - Jack Reacher and Jack Reacher: Never Go Back - starring 3x Academy Award-nominee and 3x Golden Globe-winner Tom Cruise (Mission: Impossible - Fallout).

This is the latest high profile collaboration between Amazon Prime Video, Paramount Television and Skydance Television; joining Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan, which stars John Krasinski (A Quiet Place) in the title role and was recently renewed for a third season ahead of its second season premiere later this summer.

I liked the 2nd one so much more than the first one. They gotta bring in what worked in there for this TV show IMO.

Read the books, personally thought they were okay, but am happy for the fans of the book. But always better to see books adapted into TV shows as they can have more of the books details.
Think they need to get the casting right, need an actor who's got that natural bigness to them without being necessarily being lean and muscular.

Lee Child says he always had a mental image of Rugby Player Lawrence Dallaglio when writing the character

@SimplyAz - exactly. Reacher is a hulk of a man.

@BlackBeltJones -

That's the thing, his size is a big part of his character. Part of what makes him so effective.

Cruise had the energy but Reacher’s size truly matters.

Tom is way too smalll.

Skarsgard should play Reacher

@BlackBeltJones -

An interesting choice, definitely has the height. Already in good shape, perhaps it would be easier as he doesn't have to be as lean.

As a fan of the books, I was able to buy into Cruise as Reacher in the first movie and enjoyed it.

I thought the second one was very "meh".

I really hope they get the casting right for this series.

@tylerzero - Just finished Past Tense, also a big fan, also able to enjoy the first film. But the second, besides an interesting cold villain had nothing to do with the character. It's always about disappearing and blending in and there you had Cruise and Smulders running around like maniacs...
I always had in mind a tv serie for Reacher, but much later in the future with an older (Chris) Hemsworth.

The films were good enough couch watching... a TV series seems like a good way to go.

What about Kevin Durand? He’s 6’6”. He played Fet on The Strain, the Blob in Wolverine Origins, and Jason Woodrue on Swamp Thing.

I hope they get a little closer to the 6'5" 220+ that he's supposed to be.

Tom Cruise is batshit crazy, but makes some great films. Really enjoyed the Jack Reacher movies. Looking forward the series now.

The Jack Reacher movies weren't bad....Tom Cruise just aint him ! he's a top actor but he's not Jack Reacher . Armie Hammer would be a shoe in...did ye see him I Sorry to Bother You....he was such an A-hole ....really dark, rude and broody. He could pull off Reacher easily.
