Amazon Prime Video has finally shared an exclusive sneak peek from The Tomorrow War, which stars Chris Pratt (Jurassic World: Dominion; Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3) in the lead role as a family man who is recruited by soldiers from the future to join a war against a deadly alien species.

He's joined in his mission by a brilliant scientist (Yvonne Strahovski), who may hold the key to humanity's survival, and his estranged father (J.K. Simmons), who will surely make things emotional for him as the mission continues to intensify.

The Chris McKay-directed sci-fi actioner was originally set to open in theaters last December, but due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Paramount Pictures ultimately made the wise decision to sell off the worldwide distribution rights to Amazon for a whopping $200 million back in January.

In addition to Pratt, the cast features, Yvonne Strahovski, Edwin Hodge, Betty Gilpin, Keith Powers, Sam Richardson, J. K. Simmons, Theo Von, Jasmine Mathews, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Olaolu Winfunke, Seychelle Gabriel, Alan Trong, Chibuikem Uche, Alexis Louder, and Mike Mitchell.

The Tomorrow War arrives, exclusively on Amazon Prime Video, on July 2.

In The Tomorrow War, the world is stunned when a group of time travelers arrive from the year 2051 to deliver an urgent message: Thirty years in the future mankind is losing a global war against a deadly alien species. The only hope for survival is for soldiers and civilians from the present to be transported to the future and join the fight. Among those recruited is high school teacher and family man Dan Forester (Chris Pratt). Determined to save the world for his young daughter, Dan teams up with a brilliant scientist (Yvonne Strahovski) and his estranged father (J.K. Simmons) in a desperate quest to rewrite the fate of the planet.

We know there's a Call of Duty neckbeard and a Karen in this Skrull Kill Krew. Trying to hide them isn't doing you any good. Just pull the bandage and move on, marketing department.

The premise of this movie just raises so many questions

So this isn't a movie about Chris Pratt burning gay people on poles or am I confusing this movie with his religion again?

Yep. That was some footage and dialogue... It could be good. But the blip of a trailer lack of character depth and motivation didn't sell it. If you want to sell a potential movie franchise to an audience that loves this genre or loves Chris Pratt then you better have a fantastic first trailer that is a minimum of 90 seconds that shows what the movie is actually about and reveals who the main character(s) is / are. Why should I care about future man's conflict with aliens when I don't connect with the character? I want to care. Give me a reason to care.

That was barely a tease

the premise is just stupid. Why drag people to the future into a war thats being lost? Why not have the people 30 year in the past PREPARE for the coming war instead?
