THE WHEEL OF TIME Stills Give Us A First Look At The Main Characters Of Amazon's Fantasy Adaptation

Amazon recently set a premiere date for its adaptation of Robert Jordan's sprawling series of fantasy novels, The Wheel of Time, and we now have a first look at the main characters via some new images.

Amazon recently set a November premiere date for The Wheel of Time and shared a poster featuring Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl, Jack Reacher, Die Another Day) as the powerful Aes Sedai, Moiraine Damodred, and the streamer (via EW) has now released some new stills giving us a first glimpse of the rest of the main players.

Egwene al'Vere (Madeleine Madden) and Rand al'Thor (Josha Stradowski) can be seen sharing what is sure to be a rare quiet moment, while we also get a look at magic-wielding villain Logain (Álvaro Morte) in a cage.

The third image sees warrior Lan (Daniel Henney) protecting a fallen Moiraine from the dark power of Shadar Logoth, and finally, we have a group shot of the heroic adventurers as they embark on their journey.

Check out the photos below, and keep an eye out for that first trailer very soon.

"Wheel of Time is the first fantasy series that really dove into the political and cultural worlds of all these different characters," says showrunner Rafe Judkins. "It was also one of the first to dive into multiple POV characters, so you're following an ensemble, with each of them having their own agendas and approaches to everything. That's always felt to me like the missing piece of the fantasy-literature landscape that hasn't been brought to TV or film yet."

Set in a sprawling, epic world where magic exists and only certain women are allowed to access it, the story follows Moiraine, a member of the incredibly powerful all-female organization called the Aes Sedai, as she arrives in the small town of Two Rivers. There, she embarks on a dangerous, world-spanning journey with five young men and women, one of whom is prophesied to be the Dragon Reborn, who will either save or destroy humanity.

Any fans of the novels here? Let us know in the usual spot.

I'm so excited for this. I've only read the first book, but it was some of the best fantasy I've ever read. My friends have read the whole series though and absolutely love it. It's an epic series that puts any other fantasy to the test.

And this cast looks fantastic.

Looks good. Josha Stradowski is gonna be a break out star after this on IMO. Lock him down now for Nightcrawler Feige.

Amazon having both The Wheel of Time AND The Lord of the Rings is just bananas.

Looks boring as hell, although having the goddess Rosamund Pike might get me to check it out

I don't know the books, but this kinda gives me Eternals vibes.

Anyway, on its own it looks pretty cool and tge premise does sound interesting so I am looking forward to see what Amazon is gonna bring us with this.

Theres a lot of great source material in the books, they also go off point in the late middle books and comical in an obsession with a couple of elements. Being able to curate all the good stuff thought gives lots of opportunity for the show creators. Wish them the best hope they pull it off, it won't be easy - however at least they have Pike in that lynchpin role to add the necessary gravitas - the good news is the first 3 books are pretty crackin so they won't shouldn't have trouble kicking off.

I was pretty excited about the Shannara show when it was announced but it turned out to be a let down. Hopefully this will be at a better level.
